I was amazed and thrilled at the lack of smoke at DL. All the smokers were very polite and stayed in the smoking area. I am not bashing smokers I just have 3 asthmatic children so sometimes vacations can be hard when there are many smokers around. DL was Wonderful I didn't smell smoke once the whole time we were there.

I totally agree. We had the same experience. .

Oh I totally agree!!! We're used to our nice smokeless DLR (and California in general), so when we went to WDW a few years ago the smoking REALLY got to us. At one point we were sitting next to a group waiting for a parade. We of course got there extra early to get good seats. Eventually a group sat down next to us, all of them smoking. I looked in my little map and to make sure that parade routes were a 'non-smoking' area, and then KINDLY asked them not to smoke. They continued smoking. I asked a cast member (who was RIGHT THERE and obviously saw them smoking) to ask them to stop. She did, they stopped, and lit up again as soon as she turned around. It wasn't worth the fight, or sitting in their smoke filled air, so we left (the parade, not the park :D)

California, as a whole, is a pretty health-conscious place. Plus, the taxes levied on the purchase of cigarettes leaves people with little money to do anything else, including going to Disneyland! :teeth:

Uncle Buck,

We still have PLENTY of smokers in our state :) it's just that they have been relegated to toke their smokes in restricted areas (excluding ALL restaurants, very restricted in bars, etc.). I believe Disneyland has 5 designated smoking areas (it might be 4). Some smokers chose to skip rides as their group continues on without them, but as one who is sensitive to concentrated smoke (not an asthmatic, yet) I really do appreciate not having to deal with smoke in DLR restaurants, public walk ways, or while waiting in line.

I am very sensitive to cigarette smoke with my asthma and had a very enjoyable time at Disenyland. But beware if you travel south to SeaWorld. I was constantly running into smokers there.

Twigs we noticed the same thing in San Diego at the Zoo, Sea World and at the Wild Animal Park. I also didn't notice designated smoking areas so I assumed that was why.
