Smokejumpers recent quality (and other eateries)

I haven't been since COVID and am trying to reorient myself to restaurants and menus for our November trip. Thinking of food is half the fun for me! One of our old favorites was Smokejumpers. Kind of reliably good, but never outstanding. I've heard recent reports about it going way down hill (e.g., cold food, bad service)...is that still the case? Wondering if I should rule it out.

Also, are there any other places that have suffered since the pandemic (enough to not even try)?

I haven't eaten at Smokejumpers since June 2021 (and it wasn't stellar), but the only disappointing food I had on my most recent trip earlier this month was at Galactic Grill. The veggie wrap is usually pretty decent but was almost inedible this trip.

We also had pretty awful veggie burgers at Hungry Bear back in January. Bad enough that I wasn't willing to try it again.

I used to love Smokejumpers. Until they bring back the toppings bar, I only stop by for the seasonal shakes. The smores shake was to die for...
Hungry Bear. I stop by there...again for the seasonal treats...and I put up with the mediocre hamburgers. (Peach Tea Honey Slush. Yummmm)
Galactic Grill, same thing. Seasonal items have been fun to try. Hamburgers/salads mediocre.
Fav quick service: Bengal BBQ, still a solid choice. Quality is still good, although portions have shrunk.
Overall I think the quick service options at Dland and DCA are your typical theme park food fare. Napa Rose, different story. :P

They just changed their menu again about 3/4 weeks ago. I wish they would bring back the toppings bar.
I know it's not the same, BUT, you can still get all the same toppings if you ask, and they have the GOOD Disneyland pickles again.

Smokejumpers has been good for us lately. That Orange shake is AMAZING. Best shake on property.

The only disappointments we have had lately have been at Red Rose Tavern and Galactic Grill.

Hopefully more people weigh in as I’m interested in this also. I’ve become very disillusioned with eating out lately as I’ve found the quality has decreased even with rising prices at most places. I’m hoping that’s not the case at Disney? Is that wishful thinking?

My youngest and I ate at Smokejumpers last night. I was happy to find a decent salad option as warm food never sounds good to me when I’ve been in any type of heat. My youngest ordered a cheeseburger with fries which was also fine, and I will say I prefer the new fries. They were actually really good. I always found the waffle fries bland. We shared a chocolate shake, but we were tempted by the orange shake. Just couldn’t commit. 😆

Our last trip (last August) was a food disappointment at a lot of places. Prices up, quality and service down. Half the food we got was gross (from horrible tasting cake pops to inedible fishy calamari). Off our list for now: Cafe Orleans, Catal, Marcelines, Ogas. Oga's drinks were fine, but it smelled like vomit and that "bar" smell of pickled onions and stale beer. I suppose I'm very scent sensitive, but I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Glad to hear the pickles are the good ones again. That orange shake looks amazing... hopefully it stays on the menu. I am also intrigued by the frozen Jack and Coke!

Doing the dessert party for WOC on our last day. 2 adults, 3 kids. While most of us will enjoy the plates, I have one picky kid that might just maybe take a small bite of the rice crispy mickey(after a bad experience with grape cough medicine, she has decreed grapes are a nogo, she's a sensory kid, and its going to be the end of a long day, so whatever) And one of our party is a diabetic, so might just do the fruit/cheese plate for her and she can have some dessert tastes from the picky kids plate. But the big get from the party for us is the seating and non stake out time anyway, and not being in wall to wall people.

So I promised the picky kid that I would find the best chocolate chip cookies at DL or DCA and buy them before the dessert party, so she would have a dessert she enjoyed also.

So you guys that go all the time.....where to buy the ultimate chocolate chip cookie?

I would get a num num cookie. It’s a thicker chocolate chip cookie that’s been warmed up.

100% on @dina444444 Jack Jack's num num cookies. SOOOoooo good. Another option would be Ghiraradelli's chocolate chip cookie. Pretty darn yummy....geeze, anything at Ghiraradelli's is delicious. (Frozen hot chocolate and the Ocean Beach Sea Salt Caramel Sundae are life changing for me. LOL)

Ghirardelli.

The Jack Jack cookie num num is not that good on its own (unpopular opinion...its missing salt or something), but becomes great topped with some vanilla soft serve from the cozy cones.

It’s not located in the parks, but our actual favorite chocolate chip cookie on property comes from Sprinkles in Downtown Disney. They come nicely wrapped, so it would be easy to purchase ahead of time. Sprinkles also has a gluten free version that is really tasty as well! 😋

I've heard this about Sprinkles. For some reason, they sell out of the basic chocolate chip cookie ALL THE TIME, by midday. I've tried 3 times, and still have not been able to get one. I've given up at this point. I'm sure its great, but I don't understand why they don't just make more of that flavor since it's so popular. They always still have plenty of GF versions available...

Oh man, definitely indicative of how tasty they are! They were sold out of all cookies the other night we stopped by to see if there were any good cupcake flavors (there weren’t), but I’m on a caramel apple kick so it wasn’t on my list anyway 😊
