My cousin and I (we're both smokers) planned a trip to stay at POP in November. Two friends (both nonsmokers) have decided to come along. I don't want to torture them with smoke, but I also don't want to torture strangers by standing out side of the room and smoking. So, I was wondering if anyone new of any smoke eaters that actually work. Preferably a portable one that's not too expensive - I found a 'mini' one for $547 , that would be in the too expensive category!

I'm sorry I can't help with this matter. However, as a non-smoker I want to thank you for thinking not only of those rooming with you, but the general public as well. I hope someone can help you, and I hope you have a great trip :)

A 'non' here also. I think you are fine with smoking outside the room. I am not familiar with POP, but is same as All Stars. Don't think they have patios ot balconys so going out the front door would put you in a parking lot or walkway. Ask for a ground floor and the lot would be available and I am sure most would not object.

Welcome to the DIS, and enjoy. :wave2:

Cant just go a few days without smoking?

Ok, how did I know someone would say this :) . Am I wrong in assuming you are not a smoker? I wish it was that simple, but unfortunately, I have a feeling they'd rather deal with the smoke than deal with us after not smoking for a few days. Sad, but true :( .

The parking lot was actually one of my concerns. I stayed at ASMu last summer, and our room was at the end, right next to the parking lot, so a lot of people were always walking by our room - including small children. Honestly, even as a smoker I'd probably be offended if someone was smoking out in the open with heavy people traffic like that.

Oh well, I'll keep looking, or maybe someone else will know of a good one. Anyone?

I'm a former smoker (hurrah! hardest thing I have ever done, but am so grateful to God that I have let go!). I stayed at the All Stars with a friend back in 2000. She was a non-smoker. It never occured to me to smoke in the room - one of the reasons why I quit smoking is because other people hate it so much and what a PITA it was to go find somewhere to smoke where it wouldn't offend someone. At the All Stars, I believe I walked off the outside corriders and then took a walk around the resort in less traveled areas when I wanted to have a smoke. Good luck.
