I'm wondering if people are experiencing smoke at Disney? I'm scheduled to arrive next Friday and I'm concerned about the smoke. I don't want to be out all day if there's smoke in the air. From the looks of the news reports there's fires all around that area. Can anyone fill me in?

I actually have to decide to go or cancel by Sunday, or we will lose our deposit.

Thanks!

Well, I'm in FL and its another morning without the sun. It's a smokey sky. But, next Friday is a ways away.

Just back from eight days, no problems with smoke as far as I could tell. Saw one person with a mask, but don't know if that was a 'smoke' thing. Skies were slightly hazy but still warm and sunny.

More of a problem with Heelies.....

I am at Disney now. Have been here since 5/9. Had no idea about the fires/smoke until I had a friend call me and asked if we were OK b/c she has been seeing news reports. She asked if she should cancel her trip for 5/19-5/26. I told her the only smoke I have seen is after the firework shows=-)

In the mornings & evenings, it looks like its overcast. I can't smell the smoke & its not affecting my allergies. It has been a nice trip. Heading home tom & heard that I-75 & 10 are shut down. So trying to figure how I am going back to Louisiana

Glad to hear that it's the fires are not ruining your trip. We're heading down this Friday (18th) and we're kinda nervous.

Enjoy the rest of your trip, and have a safe trip home.

No worries. I'm sure even mother nature will abide by WDW new smoking policy!

:woohoo:

Does anybody have any recollection when the fires have created smoke over the Disney's properties?
During past visits we've seen extremely heavy smoke blowing across I-4 south of Kissimmee and smoke and fire along Route 528 and I-95 east of Orlando, but never anything while at Disney.

I called the resort I'm booked for - Yacht & Beach club - & spoke with a person there who said that it just has depended upon the wind direction. She says there's just no way to tell at this point what will happen next week. It does look like rain this week, but from what I've read, it won't be enough to put out all the blazes. The reports I read here:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/weatherupdate.htm

say that the air quality in the Disney area is the worst in the nation right now.

Having lived in South Florida for many years, I've experienced having a fire that was actually out, but there was still smoldering on the ground and below ground for weeks. Our house was filled with smoke for weeks. I actually had to move out for several weeks back then. Now I have air purifiers.

At this point we're leaning towards cancelling. We're really, really disappointed but we'll be back!

The biggest concern right now would be for those of you that are driving. Visibility in some parts of Florida are at "zero" and parts of interstates and some roads are closed.

It is BAD right now in north FL and tomorrow will be worse.
