As the Daycare Turns: (some thing like that)

*sigh* What a day full of drama. Madam S showed up on time. I held the door open for her and said, "we need to talk with you" then, she said, "I need to talk with you too". My boss was walking in behind her from dropping kids off from school so I said to him as quiet as I could, "let's let her lead the conversation, she has some thing to say". So, my boss, our Senior pastor, Madam S, and myself sat in the conference room together. Her eyes got big and I didn't know if that was part nervousness, surprise, or both that all three of us were in there.

She began to tell us that she was diagnosed with an ulcer and bowel problems. She has personal problems at home and a 10 year old that needs supervision. So, then she says, she'd like to give her two week notice! I was elated, I hope she didn't sense my excitement. She talked more about her personal problems and how her son and elderly mom can't be home alone (which I completely understand). I asked if her son was out today and she said yes, so I asked, "so, your mom and son are home right now, alone?". She said yes. My boss said, what if we give you one week's severance starting now, that way you can go home, rest, and be home with your son and mom.

She began to get teary eyed (which again, who wouldn't) she really didn't want to leave because she said she loved her job. I kept saying, well your son, mother, and family need you. It's hard having to work all day and then have to come home and be there for them. She was thankful for the severance, but I'm not sure she expected being let go early. Again, I kept putting it on her that her mom and son need her right now, today and why stress yourself out more/longer being here for two weeks.

With that she wiped some tears and left. I don't know if her sil called her and gave her a head's up or if maybe Madam S sensed some thing happening on her own.

Toady was filled with more drama post the meeting which still makes me feel . There was an incident with the assistant teacher whose also Madam S' sil. My boss talked with me about me being more sensitive, but I stood up for myself saying, I think I was being as sensitive as I could and was waaay within boundaries respecting her etc.. It became a she said, I said, but I'm sorry, I’m not going to not stand up for myself" and kept telling him, I think myself and the other two directors were well w/in reason and were respectful in action and verbally and non verbally.

Any who, after the talk with my boss, I called my dh later that afternoon explaining all that happened and the guilt I was having. I asked, should I apologize only for what I said and not speak for any thing else (bite my tongue)? He said no. Business is business and she's going to have to get over it. Its tough when you ask a person a question and they don't answer you. We asked, is this yours, Madam S', or the daycare's? We got no response, no physical response after awhile. So, I took the initiative to pack things up we knew for certain were not the daycare's. The sil who is also the asst. teacher got ticked off and walked out of the room.

I've been trying to kick caffeine and I came back from my late lunch saying, I HAD to get caffeine (A large Coke), its not Mountain Dew, its Coke I promise.

Tomorrow might be filled with more drama since the cook and the assistant teacher to the same room are related to Madam S. :duck:

(Possibly) To be continued tomorrow. Join us for As the Daycare Turns. popcorn::
