Smashed Mailbox Dilema

My neighbor and I surrounded ours with cinder block and then cement and painted a nice white and put our house number on it. Now serves 2 purposes, mail and people can see the house number.

Cast Iron Mailboxes work well for those that have vandals or people that run into them with their car. http://www.lightinggal.net/Shop/Control/Product/fp/SFV/32476/vpid/4399550/vpcsid/0/rid/126382

Remember the older LARGER mailbox? I have seen people take those, put the smaller ones that we use today inside of it and pour concrete around the smaller one.
I really hope that makes sense :surfweb:

I like this idea. We got a P.O. Box and then put up one filled with concrete. The mail lady knew not to deliver anything but the kids didn't know. When you hit a concrete filled mailbox with a bat from a moving car it's not a pretty sight. Trust me, this will stop them.

I never realized so many people had mailboxes on the streets! Ours are on our houses right outside the front door-you just open the door, reach your hand out and take your mail in- or right next to your front step depending on where you want to put it. I guess you could put it in the street if you wanted to but no one does that around here. The mailman walks up to your door and puts your mail in the box.
For those with mailboxes on the street or even down the street like I think someone posted-do you have locks on the mailbox or can anyone just walk by, flp open the mailbox and grab your mail???
