SMASH thread!

I watched faithfully last year and despite the bad reviews, I always enjoyed it. I really dislike the direction they are going in now. I deleted it from my DVR recording list. I find all of the new characters uninteresting.

...you hit the nail on the head.

Interesting! Sheryl Lee Ralph. who played the original Deena in Dreamgirls, on Broadway, is in this episode with Jennifer Hudson, playing her mom.

Yes, what is with that Jimmy? Is this writing for real? They actually think a guy with that attitude works? he's an arrogant a******. He acts like no one will give him a chance, and has a sense of entitlement at the same time like people OWE him a music career. :sad2:

This new storyline with Julia has her whining AGAIN. :headache:

....that wouldn't happen in real life - you'd think that the writers would adhere to that....:confused3

....did she play Lauren Hill's mom in Sister Act 2??

I can't help myself, I love this show. I felt so sorry for Eileen at the end, and I don't think we have heard the last of Ellis.

The Ellis discussion at the end did come as a surprise, as I thought that was a character they had done away with. I didn't see that coming until Eileen was talking w/ Tom, Julia and Derek -- and even then I kept thinking to myself that, no, I believe they announced they were releasing the actor & ending that part of the storyline.

The show has been harder to get into this season, but honestly I think it's because they are addressing what I saw early on was going to be a problem -- sustainability of the storyline. They're only going to be able to milk the Bombshell idea for so long. I kept wondering, what the heck are they going to do to keep the show going? In order to continue to deliver story with new songs without swapping out cast entirely so we can watch another show come to life, etc, they've branched out in new ways to keep the Bombshell folks central in the mix, but propel them logically in different orbits in order to be able to have new songs, etc.

In a lot of ways that is making this season far less satisfying, but I'm gonna give them some time to do some character and story development with the new people. I hope the show doesn't burn out, there's so little to enjoy anymore.

.........WHAT?? 'hulu'???.....ohhhhhh.....never mind then........

I wondered if Sheryl Lee were going to break into "Rose's Turn" from Gypsy.

We haven't heard the end of Eileen, either; there's no question that she's going to get the show back.

There's no chemistry at all between Jimmy and Karen - that entire story line is nonsense. And their music sucks.

....the music isn't that bad....their possible budding romance stinks to high heaven though....I'd rather see her with Derek....

.....yeah - I think his slimy self will slither back into the show...

Doubtful. Ellis is gone. It was one thing to mention the character, another to bring him back.

I thought Tuesday's show was much better. Which version of the show will Eileen choose?? My DH thinks she'll pick one act from each.

....I was thinking along those lines, but her picking more of the new stuff...

DH's line of reasoning was that one act would be from Marilyn's point of view, and the other from the men that defined her.
