We love the look of weeping willows, but we don't want something quite that large. We would love something that is similar in look, but only gets about 25' high when mature. We are in zone 5.

Any suggestions?

What about a weeping higan cherry tree? Those are beautiful and have the same effect, plus the gorgeous blossoms.

I second that suggestions. Absolutely beautiful, delicate blossoms.

It's unanimous. I love those weeping cherry trees!!! We lost a big one in our back yard about 15 years ago. I planted one out front and it's finally starting to get some size. Start with as big a one as you can afford and find.

I was going to say Weeping Cherry, too. They are beautiful. :)

I think the process is called retarding the tree. The branches start growing up but then curve down. I have seen it on many different kinds of trees in my grandmothers neighborhood in Jersey.

On a much smaller scale, actually more of a bush than a tree,is the dappled willow. Very pretty when kept trimmed.

We have a bunch of weeping cherries in our neighborhood and I think they are beautiful. We have one in our yard as well!

We had a weeping cherry for 7 yaers. It was 9 years old. Spring came this year and it was dead. No idea why. It was absolutely wonderful all last year. I guess that is why it didn't pop into my head.

I like weeping yaupon holly. It's very easy to keep trimmed to a small size, and the berries are beautiful!
