I just returned from my first trip to Disneyland but have been to Disneyworld several times. I noticed on the attraction "It's a Small World" that several popular Disney characters are represented at Disneyland's version of the ride but I don't recall seeing them at Disneyworld. (Peter Pan, Alice, Pinocchio. Lilo and Stitch, Timon, The Three Caballeros, etc.) Am I right or did I just forget?

You are correct, they were added to the Disneyland version a few years ago to much debate, personally I like them, but a lot of people don't. I know there was one other park that did this, I believe it was Disneyland Paris, but Disney World has not for whatever reasons.

That is correct.
The characters are cute buthonestly I'm fine without seeing them and I like WDW's version better.

Interesting, I like the flooded flumes of Disney World better, but overall I like Disneyland's version better (even before the characters) and I definitely like the outside of Disneyland's better.

I very much dislike the outside part of DL's version which is why I prefer WDW.
I also like the fair room better than the rainbow lighting room.

Hmm, just goes to show how tastes vary from person to person, but to me Small World at Disney World feels like it was shoved in a closet. But I also grew up with Disneyland, not World, so that may make a difference too.

Disneyland is Disney’s best park. By a million miles. Many attractions are a bit different.
POTC. At DL is literally twice as long and just far superior. Others are just different.
Funny. Once WDW people visit DL. They are hooked.

I like seeing he Disney characters at Disneyland. Alice was missing today....just a hole where she should have been.....easy to notice the white rabbit standing alone.
I like the outside of Disneylands better too and the clock. And also the holiday decorations

We went to DL for the first time a few years ago and I had mixed feelings about the characters added into Small World. They didn’t bother me per se but I’m 100% fine with out them too. I couldn’t get over how beautiful the outside of the ride is though! Wish we had that at WDW.

I enjoyed DL so much but I felt like as long as I wasn’t looking too close that it was almost identical to MK. There were things I liked better and things I liked less, it would be hard to pick which is better imo. The castle really threwme most of all though. I think I’ll always love MK’s castle better because it was my first and it’s just bigger and more awe-inspiring I guess. I think I actually loved California Adventure more than DL to be honest. It was like the best of the other WDW parks plus some new cool stuff and was so much fun.

Thanks. I like the Disneyland version a bit better (as well as Pirates).

We saw them when we were at Disneyland. Surprised they are not at WDW, but don't miss them on the ride either.
They never got the fanfare that adding Captain Jack to Pirates did.

I can't agree with you there. I love both WDW and Disneyland and try to go to both frequently, however even after several trips, I still prefer WDW overall. There are lots of reasons why. Yeah, IASW and POTC are much better at DL, but some rides aren't as good like Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise. They both have their strengths and weaknesses.

That said, Disney's best park is Tokyo DisneySea - now that is miles ahead of any other theme park anywhere! Greatest theme park in the world!

It’s all preference. I disagree. I like disneyworld much more. (mk to land)

My husband and I enjoyed some rides better at DLR but as a whole we love WDW--it's bigger, there's much more to do, etc. DLR is a great park we just prefer WDW as a whole.

We're not hooked on DLR. We won't choose DLR over WDW. So YMMV.

I like it's a small world better at WDW and the main reason is because in DLR you are elevated. I found myself detracted from the attraction because I could see so much of the lighting, the props, etc BUT I loved the Disney characters. I thought it was a cute addition-it's not required but I thought it was cute. I would love for that to come to WDW.

FWIW while my husband doesn't really care for it's a small world to begin with he liked DLR over WDW.

I'm very excited about seeing the outside of the ride in Disneyland when we go some day! We are saving up to go next fall.

YES! I really love AK, but if I had to pick a trip to just one resort, I’d pick DL every time! We’ve been to WDW several times, but we went to DL for the first time a couple of years ago and theres just something so special about it, and I love being able to ride my favorite rides over and over with minimal walking! (and I agree... it’s a small world is LOADS better at DL!) We also got to go into Walt’s apartment on his birthday on the Walk in Walt’s Footsteps tour, which was hands down THE most magical thing we’ve ever done! I ❤️ DLR!!

To the original question of this thread: doesn't the WDW Small World have a scene with a Donald Duck piñata?

It's fun to notice the small nuance differences between WDW & DLR. Like Space Mtn having 2 seats across instead of 1 or that the tea cups aren't covered at one park but are at the other. That one has an amphitheater for F! & the other uses the walkways. Or that one park allows outside food to be brought in where the other expressly forbids it, despite being owned by the same entity.
