Small World vs. AAA plus other questions :)

Ok, I am debating between the two. The TA we used to use stinks, so it's one of them or on our own. Since this is a Grand Gathering ,I'd like to place the blame elsewhere if something goes wrong than have everyone yammering at me .

NONE of the AAA agents I spoke to know diddly about WDW. They say they are "Specialists", but they aren't. I know more than they do so I feel no comfort using them. Also, she said there is a Disney $100 cancelation fee for canceling over 7 days out and $200 for less than 7 dyas. PLUS a $25 AAA canceling charge per reservation. Sounds like a lot if you had to cancel!

I have submitted a quote request to Small World but they will probably read it and delete it! So many people and all staying different lengths....I hope they call me, but I doubt it

In my experience the AAA agents tend not to know much about Disney. Once in awhile you run across one who happens to really like Disney and by default knows a lot. My AAA agent is competent but she doesn't keep up with the Disney news, changes to policies (like the booking windows for ADRs etc.) so I have to tell her exactly what I want and how I want it booked. I have never tried to go back and apply discounts (like free dining or a new code) so I don't know how well that would work.

Give Small World a couple of days to get back to you. If they don't reply or if they seem uncomfortable handling the arrangements for your group you can contact a different agency.

The $100 and $200 cancellation policy is set by Disney and not by travel agents. The $25 cancellation fee is something that some travel agency's and most AAA offices started charging. Small World doesn't have the $25 cancellation fee

I have never used her, but I have read several threads about a AAA TA named Michelle that several people have used. They say she is great and really knows Disney. If you search the boards, I believe they even had a phone number for her. Have fun!

Thanks for the encouragement jackskellingtonsgirl. We were all set for ourselves and then family started saying they might like to go with us and before you know it...BLAM...there's a bunch of people going but wanting me to make it cheap...and fun....and educational....WTH!I'm sure it will turn out fine...just a bit of freaking out on my part!

My Small World agent seems to know a lot about WDW and nothing phases her. Give them a chance to get back to you.
