Small Wonder Camcorder for 10 year old boys

On the "what to get your 11 year old for Christmas" thread someone suggested a flip camera. I thought "That's it!" but the cheapest I could find is $100 which is my whole budget for him, and we need stocking stuffers. I then found a $60 small wonder, and wonder if that's a good substitute. The reviews say the sound is lousy -- but I don't know if it's lousy as in not good enough for professional productions, or lousy as in if he makes a silly you tube video you won't be able to hear a word. I don't want the latter.

Thoughts? If not, ideas on less expensive gifts for a 10 year old.

They have a hand held video camera in one of the drug stores. I think it is Walgreens. It's pretty nice. My kids got it last year. I think it was 39.99.

We got this one for DS11's birthday. I downloaded the firmware to update it - there is link on creative labs website. It works great - perfect for having fun. DS11 and his friends have a blast with it. I got it at dell for $40 with free shipping. I did buy an A/V cable to hook it up to the tv to watch videos. There is one on sears.com that comes with A/V wire, but I can't tell by picutre if it's exactly the same one, because our is silver. It does look the same though.
