Small vent- when will people learn that Snopes is their friend?

Does anybody remember the "Eddie Murphy / elevator / hit the floor / big bouquet of roses" story? I mean, that's the version as I first heard it - and of course it happened to somebody my mother knew... or was it a friend of somebody she knew...?

Aging hasn't "earned" me anything.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one, then.

I respect the years she's lived, the experiences she's had, and what she's endured to get to where she is. I think that earns her the right, within reason, to do as she jolly well pleases without other people sticking their two cents in.

I don't believe she's incapable of learning or growing, should she choose, but I'm not going to push her.

The only reason I mentioned her age in the first place was to illustrate the length of time she has had this particular personality trait. I personally don't think that after having been gullible and a bit of an alarmist for 30+ years of her adult life that she's going to change without a very compelling reason.

I was talking about my aunt. If you'd like to take a whack at explaining why the emails she sends around are ridiculous and how/why she should verify their accuracy, be my guest.

For my part, I think that making it to your 50's and beyond has earned her the right to be who she is. Who am I to tell her to change? It doesn't seem worth trying to change such an ingrained way of thinking over something so harmless.

and I was talking toungue in cheek. it didsound like you were saying people over 50 won't change, and it didsound like, to you 50 is "kinda old". so us over 50 jumped on it. and why I joked (see the smilie?) about being able to be flexible when you get older!
