Got home from doing groceries & just noticed our huge inflatable Christmas Tree decoration was gone from the front yard ! Someone took the decoration & the stakes & everything ! What a lousy thing to do :sad2:

Now DH doesn't want to replace it because it could happen again. I live in such a quiet neighborhood with a police car next door. I guess it's the season for this but it still stinks :guilty: I loved that darn thing, made me smile when I drove by our house. At least they didn't take my wreath or lighted trees by the front door.

Still it just makes me so mad !

I'm sorry you had your inflatable tree stolen.

One of my neighbors lighted reindeers (3) were stolen last week. She has decided not to replace them and says she will just stick with her lighted garland and wreath on her front entrance since she doesn't want to have anything else stolen.

We haven't put our stuff out yet and probably won't until just a few days before Christmas in the hopes that nothing will get stolen. Two years ago we had a lighted penguin and a lighted snowman stolen.

We also put the decor really close to the house now when before it was closer to the road so it was easier for people to see.

Christmas decor thieves make me really mad too.

The Grinch strikes again! Collecting all of the stuff down in Whoville in hopes that it will spoil Christmas. Don't let that happen! In all seriousness, I'm sorry to hear about these really disgusting acts of thievery. Just remember, eventually everyone answers for their actions! I, personally, wouldn't replace the stolen stuff if it happened to me. Merry Christmas to all!:santa:

I thought someone had stolen a big inflatable snow globe lawn decoration I had a few years ago. I remember calling my mom and ranting about it, telling the neighbors, etc....

A few weeks later, we found it. It had blown away, and where it landed was not really visible. It was during a snow storm, so it was all covered with snow. We found it walking the dog during a melt.

:rotfl:

I felt really stupid after I made such a big deal about someone stealing it! It was really heavy too. The motor was actually in the bottom of it, so I would have never dreamed it would blow away like that. I guess that just deflating it is not enough when the wind is really strong!

So sorry that this happened to you. We have a really big lighted display in our yard. I worry sometimes about some nasty, mean person taking some of the things we have. We have been collecting for many, many years and it would break my heart if someone took something.

Agreed. You *reap what you sow* or Karma, baby ..
:rolleyes1

It's so sad that people will stoop that low. I'm sure someone sold it so they can probably buy drugs or resell it for money.

One halloween my neighbor had a halloween blow up. Well it wasnt stolen but someone sliced it. pretty sad.

I bought a bunch of light up x-mas candy canes and was telling dh i want to put those up and my lighted mini lawn lite up penguins but he said wait til a lil closer to x-mas. He did put up our lights. In our area there arent any fences except out across the street neighbor. I really wish we had a fence so we could decorate more. I hate living on a cul de sac that has a busy main road . Anyone off the main road could easy walk through our cul de sac and have a easy get away

It's a downer since I came home with DS & he was really bummed.

I just vented to some of my friends & one told me & I quote "don't let that ruin your xmas spirit i know its sad that someone would do that during the holiday but think that maybe you made someone else's xmas. there are a lot of people out there that are not as fortunate as we are and that does not make it right but maybe you put a smile on someone else this holiday season!!! hope you and family have a great xmas !!! :scared1:

Ahh no I told her there's no excuse for stealing someone else's decoration because you can't afford one for your family !

No in the end of course it won't ruin my Christmas spirit since it's about more than an inflatable tree but it's still a crappy thing & there is NO excuse for whoever did it.

Thanks for all the replies letting me vent. :santa:

We came home one day to find a giant snowglobe in our yard. It was one of those really windy days. Luckily my kids remembered a neighbor two blocks down had the same one so we were able to return it them.

OP ~ I'm really sorry that this happened to you. My family would be really upset too!

Several years ago, someone stole a reindeer off our lawn. I was so upset! Later that day, my son found it on the driveway next door. The house was vacant at the time and there's a big hedge between our driveways, so we couldn't see it from our house. I figured someone was just messing around so I put it back out. The next morning, we woke up to find that someone had thrown all three reindeer on our roof. They put our metal-framed snowmen on DH's car, causing a scratch in the hood. Now we were talking about more serious vandalism. I called the police who said it was probably some teenagers who were out late and got bored.

The next day, we put everything back in the yard. This time, we strung heavy clothesline wire through all of the decorations and padlocked them to the post on the porch. I put little signs around that said, "Smile! You're being videotaped!" We didn't really set up a camera, but what the heck! I also put a sign on the tree out front saying the police had been notified of the prior vandalism, and to please call 911 if you see a crime in progres. No one bothered our stuff again. Sure, someone could have cut the wires if they really wanted to. But, most bored teenagers don't wander around with wirecutters in their pockets.

The vandals haven't struck in 10 years. Hopefully, they won't be back this year. My DH just put up the outside decorations!

OP I'm sorry that happened. When Christmas stuff gets stolen it's sort of like why? It's not worth anything. It makes you feel bad and angry but like PP's have said don't let it ruin your Christmas.

My parents allow me to put up a huge Christmas display and we've had over the years :a hand made ( wooden cut out that my grandpa and I made) Joseph, reindeer, blow mold candy canes,& a camel all stolen, and someone spray painted profanity over Jesus. We now chain and lock everything up. It feels bad when someone takes stuff Esp. When you live in a nice family neighborhood but enjoy Christmas and keep on the look out after Christmas for something to replace it and next year you could add extra security measures.

When something gets stolen we put up a sign: to the grinch who stole our Christmas bah humbug to you! To our friends and neighbors we wish you a merry Christmas!!!

Goodness, ....sorry to hear those awful person/people took your decoration!
Hope you filed a Police Report, wont get your item back but good to get it documented none the less...

just wanted to say sorry to hear that!!! What is wrong with some people!!
We take our outdoor decorating seriously and have several blowmolds. One of which is 15 years old and can't be replaced (unless I want to go broke on ebay). I would be SO upset if someone stole it. But I do believe that what goes around, comes around. Maybe they got a flat as they drove off with it.:rolleyes1

We had a mommy and baby soft tinsle penguin stolen last year at around 10 pm at night while we were home and up. I heard a weird noise in the front yard and looked out the front window but didn't see anything, then noticed it didn't seem as bright. Went out and they had grabbed the penguins and I guess ran away with them, jerking the power chords out as they went, which were connected to another string of lights and path lights, leaving a trail of parts behind them that fell off.

What kind of an !@#$!@ do you have to be to steal Christmas decorations from someone's yard? My wife wouldn't let me go hunt for them, or I would have, and probably would have done bad things if I had caught them. I'm sure it was just stupid teenagers being idiots. Makes me want to put out something nice and camp in the bushes with a paintball gun.

This thread reminded me of our "grinch" from last year.

Last year, we bought a live tree at a local store and they set it outside for us to pick up. Upon heading out to pick it up and tie it to my truck I watched as a couple who had purchased a tree as well drove off with their tree, and OUR tree too.

Who steals Christmas trees??

Someone tried to steal our santa on a tractor inflatable one year, they instead popped it. I actually followed their tracks in the snow and got their license plate--missing one number/letter though. Kids. Called the police, who were able to go from there. They went to the house, actually in our neighborhood, and the dad lied for them and said they were home the whole time. Lo and behold, next day, they dropped off a new one with an apology note.

Normally I wouldn't have bothered, but out neighborhood has been plagued by some kids turfing yards all year round. I was worried that this was the same kids. I worry that our dogs will be let out while they are on their turfing spree and will end up killing them. Or the neighbors that live on the corner with small kids might be camping out and something dreadful happening. Just trying to put a stop to it.

I also caught the egg-ers. You would think they would talk by now and figure I have a small case of insomnia and am up at all hours. :headache:
