I've been wondering about small kids (we have 3, ages 6.5 and under) and the number of people allowed in a 1 BR villa. I know they can all fit on the pull out sofa. I don't want to have to stay at OKW all the time either.

Would we be called out at check in and required to pay to upgrade to a 2 BR for having 3 kids and 2 adults? Or do you have to list all persons in the room at booking like you do on the regular WDW booking site? We don't own DVC yet but I'm curious. Thanks!

Five guests in a one bedroom unit is allowed at most (if not all) DVC villas now.
You will have to list all guests names on the reservation, so if the occupancy was a problem? The reservation would not be allowed to be made for the number of people on the DVC website, or through member services.

Oh I didn't know it had changed. I was just playing around on the regular booking site and it kept telling me that I had to book a 2 BR everywhere but OKW due to party size. Thanks!

There is bedding provided for 5 at OKW, AKV and BLT in the 1 BR villas, and there will be also at VGF. There's a king bed, queen-sized sleeper sofa, and twin-sized (more or less) sleeper chair at those current resorts.

I should add that in the VALUE category at AKV, there is NO sleeper chair in the 1 BR.

For the WDW DVC resorts, only the value booking category at AKV will not permit 5 in a 1 bedroom. That 1 bedroom villa allows 4 people plus an infant under the age of 3. There is a portable crib provided for the infant.

AKV, BLT & OKW have 1 king bed in the bedroom, a queen sleep sofa and a sleep chair in the living room area. They officially sleep 5 plus an infant aged 2 or younger. A portable crib is provided for the infant.

All other WDW DVC 1 bedrooms have a king in the bedroom and a queen sleep sofa in the living room area. DVC members are allowed to have a total of 5 people (not 5 plus an infant) in these 1 bedroom villas, but they must make their own arrangements to accommodate the 5th person - i.e., a bed, linens & towels. Some people bring an air mattress or aero bed for that person. MS will list all 5 on the reservation and all 5 will have KTTW cards and be eligible for ME, a dining plan, EMH, etc.

Because occupancy can be a hot topic, we limit discussion to the Occupancy Thread.

Those who are interested in discussing this further may do so in that thread.
