My df works in an office, and every year some people inevitably get him a small gift. It is always hard to know who to get gifts for, since he works with a huge amount of people. Last year we made up little mugs/hot chocolate/ candy packages wrapped in cellophane with pretty bows. Last year we made 8, and he ended up giving out 7. This year we need more, as he is on a new team. It is so difficult because I do not know who they are for, and he is not much help. He might just end up with boxes of chocolates or bags of lindt balls.

Any suggestions of inexpensive little gifts that he can have handy for when someone comes in and gives him something, so he has something to give back?

how about some home made cookies or fudge wrapped up nice.

How about $5 gift cards to someplace like Target or Starbucks? I know that what people gave out in my office.

How about suggesting that instead of everyone giving people a gift they don't really want that you put the money you would have spent into an envelope and donate it to a charity? DH's office finally did that and it was SO nice.

Bath and Body Works anto bacterial soaps. YOu can get them on sale and they come in such wonderful scents. If he does not need them all you can use them at home!!

I always set out a big box of cookies by the coffee pot with a note:

"Happy Holidays from _______" That always seems to suffice.

Make a giant batch of those oreo truffles and put them into individual bags! Or get some bottles of wine....around my office people like alcohol, chocolate, and scratch tickets.

Some sort of office container, maybe a pencil cup from the dollar store, filled with a pens, pencils, and/or highlighters {buy multi packs or boxes of a dozen}. Throw in some fun shaped paper clips (at Staples), printed binder clips and post-it notes (I think Michaels has ones with initials, if you know everyone's name).

One of the secretarys did this last year. She used a martini glass and etched (or painted?) our names on the glass and filled it with small office supplies such as those mentioned above.
