Small Direct Add-On incentives?

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask, but does Disney ever offer incentives for a small (around 50 points) direct add-on contract? Our first contract is resale, but I am thinking about possibly purchasing a small direct contract to use for the restricted resorts in the future. Also, do you think Disney will have a "sale" and lower the direct minimum of points for perks for a limited time? I know it's all speculation, but I am curious to know your thoughts.

I have owned since 2009 and they have never offered them for small contracts. I also do not see them ever going backwards for membership extras in terms of minimum level to qualify.
I’ve owned since ‘03, and if there ever was a sale on small contracts, I missed it.

They recently reduced the minimum buy in for new members for direct contracts at VDH from 150 to 100... but without it qualifying for membership extras. I think that's very telling of their thoughts.

As others have said, the answer has been no so far. Recent developer credits have always been offered at higher than 50 points; the more you purchase at one time, typically the more developer credit is offered. (Buying several smaller contracts also means higher closing costs than just closing one time on a larger contract.

Membership extras will almost assuredly stay at 150 points or higher for the foreseeable future considering that many with fewer have been grandfathered in. It would make many owners who purchased at the new requirement if they were to lower the threshold.

Ever is a very long time. Who knows what could happen that could change things. In the next several years though, I’d be surprised if they lowered the Membership Extras minimum and *shocked* if they offered a discount on anything under 100 points.

I don’t think they will offer incentives on small contracts. We haven’t let it stop us from buying smaller contracts at full price though.

We just bought our first contacts of 100 at RIV and 50 at VDH. It’s a bummer our purchases didn’t qualify for any incentives but ultimately knew we would be happiest with a little at both resorts. It didn’t make sense for us to finance $11,000 more just to save $1500 (plus having maintenance fees on 50 additional points).

We will likely be adding on small direct or medium resale contracts in the future. Specifically have our eye on a small contract (25 or 50 points?) when Fort Wilderness Cabins go on sale then maybe a small direct at Poly2 or medium resale at Poly1.

One caveat is if 50 unrestricted points would be enough for you at the new restricted resorts especially since there may be 4 by the end of 2024.

I think if you have a cumulative 150 direct points, while it may not qualify for incentives you should now have DVC-Y / perks.

Agree. Sales are down. There are only so many ways they can offer a discount to promote sales. Lowering the buy-in and having it qualify for membership extras would really boost sales. Never say never.

While I tend to agree with "never say never", I'm certainly not holding my breath. We've gone through periods of down sales before, and incentives for small contracts were not offered.

This is what's probably going to stop me from adding on for a while. I'm tempted by resale since I already have perks through my initial direct contract, but I'd also prefer unrestricted points. I'm hoping that when Poly2 goes on sale maybe I'll be in a place that I can do a small add-on at full price.

I would also add that it seems like going forward, the smallest contract you can buy direct (for new resorts) is 50 points. I asked my guide about 25 at CCV and it was a no. I would sign tomorrow if I could buy 25. I could buy 25 at GFV but no point in that unless I truly use them as SAP.

Interesting that you can buy 25pts. @ VGF , because they are actively selling it is my guess. But you can’t at non-active selling resorts? Is CCV still available to purchase direct? If so, I don’t understand the difference.

Disney has never offered less than 50 CCV, RIV, or VDH. Seems like it’s just the new policy for new resorts. Anything Poly or older the minimum is 25, and that includes VGF. 🤷‍♂️

It’s because when VGF went on sale originally the minimum was 25. It was raised with CCV to 50 and and had stayed there for RIV and VDH.

So it’s the now the new level.

Dang…that makes adding on at FW more difficult. 😕 I originally was planning on 50 but looked it up and thought you could do 25 if buying cash.
