I read in a previous thread that small children need to wear swimmer diapers. Does anyone have details on this?

Thanks,
Cookie

7 days till Disney !

:p

Swimmer Diapers don't break down in the water like regular diapers do. You can buy swimmer's diapers at Walmart. I believe they also sell them on the Ship.

Any additional details such as the age of a child that is required to wear them ? I have a DS that is 3.5 years old and potty trained. Does he need to wear them in the pool ?

Thanks,
Cookie

;) ;)

If your child still has accidents, then they are suppose to wear them. Since your child is potty trained you do not need to wory about it. I have never read that certain ages had to wear them, all kids are different.

If you can't find them at your local Wal-Mart (they tend to be a seasonal item), you can certainly find them at the Target on Merritt Island. If you're driving, or taking a town car, that would be an easy stop on your way to the port. Here's a map:

...worked VERY hard to be potty-trained so he could do the kids' club on board. when it came time to swim, we took him to the bathroom then put on his trunks without the swim diapers. we simply warned him to let us know if he needed a potty break while in the pool. no one questioned us about him (and he is a very small 3 yo).

One word of advice - be aware at the Mickey Pool. I've posted before that the pool situation was probably our only "less than magical" part of our cruise in July.

The Mickey Pool looks like an epidemic waiting to happen. Swim diaper or no swim diaper - that many children in such a shallow amount of water - it really looked unhealthy. Our daughter got very ill at a hotel pool one year due to so many children in the pool. They do drain it often, but it just was very unappealing to us.

The Goofy "Family" pool was too deep for our DD7 to stand and not enough room to swim. She is an excellent swimmer (since 3years old) and had trouble tredding water, due to the "adults" who were pushing, shoving, and making waves.

We ended up saving our water time for St. Maarten - Great Bay Beach was terrific - and Castaway Cay. When given the oppportunity to choose between a few turns down the Mickey Slide or the club - DD7 chose to go make "Flubber"!
