background info:

We are going to the world in December. Not Dis expers by any means but we have been several times. These boards really help!

I have several coworkers who are taking their familes to the World. One in particular leaves in about 2 weeks...staying DVC with a large extended family.

I've been asked several times about planning ADR & FP & I've always answered. I advised at 60 days to get online & do your FP. I've showed them touring plans.

The other day, at my 6 month mark I signed on & got my ADR's. My mistake was saying that I was "tired" because I got up early to do my Disney ADR's. The one that is leaving in 2 weeks was stunned.

Today, he pulls me into the office & starts asking about FP. and which ones to get etc. He says...they don't run out do they? he really wants minetrain & everest.

I sent him a couple of the posts from the top of the fast pass thread. Then he says well his sister assures him that they will be able to get fastpasses the day of.

so...sorry for the rant...but how do I keep a straight face around such perfectly smart co-workers that refuse to see what is in front of them?

You can only do so much. Let them learn from their mistakes if they're too stubborn.

Some of our best lessons at Disney (and life, really) came from making mistakes.

Sounds like his sister has been before, hasn't kept up with changes, and is basing everything on her own prior experience. Hopefully, he'll come back and thank you for at least trying to help.

I commend you for actually keeping a straight face! We know some people who go every few years and should know better, but they plan their trip two weeks out in the hottest months of the year and then come home complaining about everything and how much they hate it and only go for their kids. I just shake my head - you can't do anything else. They think we're crazy for going as often as we do, but the most I've ever said is, "It works if you work it."

Well...she might be right ;) You might be able to get what you want if you are dedicated to refreshing the MDE app over and over and not going during an incredibly busy season. We ended up getting annuals and going to WDW on our "offsite" week June 4-10 for which we had no FP. I was able to easily make 2 sets of 4 FP for Everest on our extra AK day when my kids suddenly decided they were brave enough to ride while walking past it and then I found 6 7DMT FP on our way to MK on our last day (ended up canceling those for Splash since I got tired of searching for the last 2 we needed). If you do 2 at a time and keep refreshing the screen, you can usually find what you are looking for, as availability will vary from one minute to the next. Though I would suspect 7DMT will be the hardest and hope he at least decides to secure his FPs for that one.

You better start practicing now. The harder job will be keeping a straight face and not saying "I told you so" when they come back complaining, after the trip.

Snicker on the inside, bite my cheek and say "hope you all have a great trip!"

Chances are you will hear how awful Disney was when they get home. And I respond "It's not for everyone."

Each of us has strengths and weaknesses. Keep a straight face because you recognize that you, too, are imperfect.

Just saying.... we are locals and I never plan out ADRs (unless i want a very specific time for a birthday, etc) or fast passes until a day before if not day of. I have been able to get Minetrain and everest on NUMEROUS occasions. I am looking right now While times may not be perfect and yes possibly not available. It is a guarantee they won't have them. Right now there are multiple Fps for every hour of the day for Everest tomorrow. Not everyone who visits the parks plan out the way we do on the Dis.

Went through something similar with my sister before her first trip. She didn't take one bit of advice and it drove me crazy... so now we just don't talk about it. I know she is "planning" another trip and I just ignore it.

The one time I went on mine train (yawn-o-rama) it was after getting a Fp+ an hour before. And that was durin food/wine and wine/dine weekend. Fwiw.
