I plan on taking a group of 7 down sometime between June and September. When should I book my stay if I'm trying to find the park at its slowest?

Okay, I'm going to take a guess.

First week of June should be okay. I understand the summer is crazy and the weather is HOT and HUMID!!!

Late August through September there will probably be Free Dining packages offered. This increases the crowds where there used to be a slow period. Still not bad, and your group could maybe get a free dining package and/or a room-only code (they are usually released for this time period as well).

Late September the weather begins to moderate a bit and then the Wine and Harvest Festival begins late September as well.

Downside is that it is Hurricane season, so anything is possible.

Very early June and/or late August if you need to go June/July/August .... otherwise, I would suggest mid- to late-September because of the offers, weather, etc.

Hi,

September is historically one of the "slowest" times of the year at WDW.

Last day of school is June 9th. Should I book the trip shortly after that or do you think thats too far into June and I should wait until late August/early September??

Hi again,

June gets busier with every day that goes by as more and more kids get out for the summer. September is MUCH less crowded than June.

I agree. But then again, with all of the kids that are being homeschooled nowadays, and all of the crazy times throughtout the year that different schools take time off any more, it really is a crapshoot in trying to select the "best" time to go. That's definitely one thing I've learned the last couple of times I've gone. I've learned to stop asking myself "Shouldn't all of these kids be in school ?"

September probably is one of the "slowest" times with school just getting back into session. Hurricanes are definitely an issue to watch out for that time of year.

Good luck.

I went the first week of September and everything was walk on...my longest wait was for Dumbo and I think it was under fifteen minutes. If I wasn't now a teacher, I'd go again in September in a heartbeat :)

September Rocks! We used to go down the weekend before labor day. After labor day, the parks were practically empty. However, we don't get to do that now since our kids are in school.

Like someone mentioned before, the Hurricanes are the only problem. We had to cancel a trip due to Charlie.

Gay days 2008 is June 2-8 and I have read that the parks are very buisy durring this.

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas is awesome, the parks area dead, and the decorations are up!

If you go during that time frame, just remember to check the schedule... attendees tend to meet up at one park on each day that they're there, so you may not have as much of a problem if you just avoid those parks on the days when those masses are supposed to be there.

I agree with early September. Went for free dining right after Labor Day and through the following week two years ago. We went later in Sept. last year for free dining and it was definitely busier by that 3rd week of the month. I would imagine last week of August would not be too bad for crowds as that is typically the week that many schools begin classes.

Hurricane season start in June and ends, I believe, in November, so they're a threat any of the time you are considering. I usually go to WDW every Dec or Jan, then every May and Sept/Oct. Sept is always the slowest time of year, because with school just starting it is hard for parents to take kids out. Now with all the free dining offers, Sept is busier than it used to be, but nothing compared to the rest of the year. Sorry, but no way could you even pay me to go in June-August. I love kids, but not that many in one place at one time. I prefer Sept for the lighter crowds (and the free food:rotfl: ). In fact I already have my reservations for my upcoming May and Sept trips.:cool1: If you go the last week in Sept you can also be there for the start of the Food & Wine Festival and the Eat to the Beat Concerts. I'll be there Sept 26th-Oct 4th and can't wait.

last 2 trips have been in sept and upcoming is this sept, its hot but short waits
