I am planning our first ever visit to Disneyland in Mid December this year, and really want a few slow days before the mobs hit. Please, those of you with experience, what day do you think the crowds will jump in number this year?? When do schools get out in LA??

Thanks

We went to Disneyland in the first week in December a couple years ago. It was great. I think the longest waite time for anything was about 10 minutes. I have heard from CM's at Disneyland that the week before Christmas through the week after new years it is pretty busy.

I hope this helps.

I haven't seen a school calendar for next school year, but usually CA schools are off the week before Christmas through New Years Day. Last December was crazy all month. I've heard rumors that they're extending the 50th beyond what was the original end date to the end of 2006. If that's the case, I would expect the crowds to be big next Dec too.

We just went Nov 29th-Dec 7th. It was not busy. There were a few 15-20 minute waits, but we basically had 1-6 minute waits. The longest waits being Autopia, Space Mountain (but we got a FP and got on in 5 minutes) and anything in Fantasyland.

We were there the weekend of the Candlelight processional. We had tickets for Sunday night. We knew it would be crazy busy, so we went to Sea World saturday, and then stayed in CA on sunday, had our required meal at Storytellers, got our tickets to the CP, and went into DL then.
We heard DL was at capacity the next weekend though! (Dec 10th)
So the earlier in the month you can go, the better.

(A CM told us the park seemed to be at about 35,000 while we were there, so that is not bad at all!!)

The Christmas decor was beautiful!!

You'll be pretty safe the first two weeks of December. Once it gets toward Christmas, it starts to get VERY crowded. I'd say avoid any time after the 20th or so.

For the next school year, most schools will be out on the 22nd and go through the first week of January. Others may have an extra week before Christmas, but that is the schedule I have seen released for a few districts so far.

The crowds are pretty slow the week after thanksgiving through the first couple of weeks of december.

Thanks for the info, I guess I will try to get the park days in at the beginning of the trip, and tours of LA etc, for the end.

Drew
