I wish I could have checked I have one dog and I don't like pets.

I have an indoor cat, and 8 barn cats. Our chocolate lab, Shiloh, passed away last August (she was 14). Probably won't be getting another dog for awhile.

Between two homes where I live : 3 cats Buddie, Dandie, Lightning and 3 dogs Cuddles, Kiwi, Spankie

3 cats - Old man cat with cancer, slightly less old fat cat and a 1 year old youngin who is just a beast with a ginormous personality. Never had a cat like him
1 dog - a marshmallow Great Pyrneese

1 dog, a black lab-mix named Luna, after Luna Lovegood.

Growing up I always had at least two dogs and two cats, at times we had more.

We have 2 Powder Puff Chinese Crested and 1 Border Collie/Australian Shepard dogs. It appears we just exchanged the kids with dogs. :)

Other.

We have one cat, who we started off fostering from a no-kill shelter. He was one of the "resident" cats. DD loves cats (and all animals) with all her heart and soul, but unfortunately is allergic to a lot of them. Cats included (as am I). She was about 7 and begged, begged, and begged for a cat. I found out that this local shelter would foster their adult cats out just so the cats could get a vacation from the shelter, or hopefully, be adopted. So we went and got this cat one day, me thinking that DD would be so allergic that she would beg to bring the cat back after a week or two's "vacation".

Wouldn't you know it....and this is the weirdest thing ever...neither DD or I am allergic int he slightest bit to this cat. He is an American Short Hair and honestly spent about just about the first year hiding under the bed and only coming out after DD and little DS went to bed. He fell in love with older DS, who is not an animal person in the least, and would come out and sleep with him every night. It's now 4 years later and Peanut (the fattest cat in the universe) is still going strong, although now he always wants to be petted and takes a turn on everyone's bed every night. Goofy cat!

We also currently are "fostering" Lucy, DS9's 3rd grade class pet - an 8 year old Box Turtle. His teacher is having a baby this summer and asked for a volunteer to keep Lucy for the summer and fall until she comes back. My kids are in love with her, and even I, a non-animal person - think she is pretty cute. And super easy to care for! Fresh water, a spray of water, and some frozen veggies/fruit every day and that is about it. DS9 will hunt for worms every now and then so Lucy can have a treat.

Lastly, this summer we also had 5 baby bunnies born in our backyard (DD found their burrow or hutch or whatever their nest is called) and would sit for hours watching them. She would even cover their hole with a stepstool when it rained LOL. She also brought tiny baby frogs home from her Wisconsin trip, and yesterday a butterfly.

I told her that the animal hotel is now officially CLOSED!! LOL

Pets outnumber people in my house. Two dogs - a 7 year old Westie and a 14 year old lab-spaniel mix. A cat that my son rescued from certain death (it was abandoned as a very young kitten in an area with plenty of fox and coyote that would see it as a snack). And three rabbits - one a pedigreed mini-rex that my daughter shows, the other two just pets.

Dio - aka The Dude, Dude-inator, Big Guy - is the grey tabby, an 8-year-old boy.

Monster - aka Monster Mash, Miss Crankypants, Little One - is the black one, a 15-year-old girl.

Wow... I thought I was looking at a picture of my cats for a minute. Lol. I have the younger twin version of yours. Our grey male tabby is 4 years old and our little girl black kitty is 1.5 years.

My answer to the question in 2. :)

We have two boys, a Dachshund who is 14 and an English Cocker who is 10. We just lost our princess American Cocker in April who was 14. The house is quite sad without her. I have been in touch with the English Cocker rescue we got our English from and we are on a waiting list. I know we will have a little girl again. Just odd having only 2 dogs lol. At one time we had 15. But we were in rescue at that time lol

Here is a picture of them. The blonde American cocker is the one we lost in April

We are turtle-sitting this summer too. Buddy belongs to one of the science teachers, and we watched him when my one son had her as a teacher a few years ago. Fast forward to my daughter having the same teacher (there are two science teachers per grade at our junior high) and she wanted to watch Buddy as well.

I responded with 3 pets (we have 3 spoiled kitties- Purrcey, Lily, and Gigi), but we also have a 55 gallon freshwater fish tank with 5 or 6 fish in it. DH is the fish guy in the house, and I am the cat lady.

We have three rescue dogs. We got our first dog in 2009 when my DH traveled a lot, and we had just moved to a new area. I wanted a dog to keep me and the kids company, and to a lesser degree, to keep a watch on things. His name is Wilson, and we got him from a local shelter. He was 6 months old at the time. He is totally neurotic, and anxious, and needy. He makes me crazy, but i love him.
He is an odd mix - built kind of like a basset or corgi, with a broad chest and very short legs, but he looks like an Australian Shepherd with a blue merle coat and blue eyes...and he has thick wiry terrier hair. :confused3:confused3
He is very photogenic though!

We got our second dog, Olive, after we saved our neighbor's Yorkie when it got out one day. Wilson LOVED that tiny little dog, so we knew he'd be ok with a friend in the house. Olive is a shih tzu from a hoarding situation...her mom was rescued while pregnant, and we got O when she was a tiny, tiny puppy. I don't even care if people look at me strangely when I say this, but she is basically the love of my life.

And last but not least, we have Howard Wolowitz, aka Howie, a lhasa apso, from a local rescue program for small dogs. He was used as a breeding stud and lived the first two years of his life in a cage, his feet never even having touched grass and without a name. Thank heaven for pet rescue. He is a character! He has one blue eye and one brown eye. We were not intending to get a third dog, but i saw his picture online and went to the adoption event at PetCo just to see him. When we got to him, he literally (actually and truthfully!!) jumped out of his enclosure and into my arms, where he immediately fell asleep. The woman who worked for the rescue was shocked. He had never done anything like that before. Well, he had to come home with us, where he continues to sleep 90% of the time. He will sometimes roll over and fall off the couch, then just fall back asleep again. He's a professional sleeper.

I love my dogs so much. They are my constant companions, and every time I move around the house, I have a little pup parade following me everywhere.
