Disney's Wide World of Sports will host a museum & headquarters for a non-profit group that promotes Slo-pitch Softball.
Within the next two months, the non-profit organization known nationally for its role in governing slo-pitch softball tournaments and events across the nation will be setting up shop near the land of the mouse in Orlando, Fla., and its organizers couldn't be happier.
According to Don DeDonatis of the United States Slo-pitch Softball Association, organization officials are sealing the deal with Walt Disney World to move the group's headquarters and museum just outside the gates of the "magical world," locating it near tournament partner Disney's Wild World of Sports.
"We would already be gone except that we are waiting for our building to be finished, which will be right at the gates, and our target move day is in March," DeDonatis said. "Tying in there is good for the association. Disney tells us they have 44 million people a year pass through their gates and I know not all of them will come in the museum, but that is good foot traffic."
The USSSA is a 35-year-old organization that sanctions 15,000 tournaments and is about 2 million members strong.
