Liverwurst is one of those things, like bologna and marshmallows, that i liked as a kid but won’t touch now.

Oh, and the brands labeled “Braunschweiger” were always on a higher level than plebeian liverwurst. :snooty:

;)

I want to start giving him some now with no pill, so when I do have a pill in there he won’t think anything of it.
Good plan. For dogs who are suspicious of pill-laced treats, another good method is to have a follow-up treat chaser. Do a non-pill treat (they can chew it ever-so-carefully, they'll find nothing), the pill treat, then IMMEDIATELY offer another non-pill treat while they still have the pill treat in their mouth. Limits the investigation on the pill treat since they have already established the treats are safe, and they want to get to that last treat too. After a few days you can usually eliminate the first non-pill treat from the lineup, since they've learned this tasty treat "doesn't have pills ;) ".

I like it, along with braunschweiger, it's good on some pumpernickel with some brown mustard and some red onion. Having said that, I'm sure it's been at least 30 years since I've had any.

@Dan Murphy I keep a couple of tins of sardines in the pantry. They might be even better than you remember, smoked oysters too. Maybe not frequently, just for a snack that's a bit different.:)

I said I didn’t like it but I have never had it and won’t try it. My mom used to make us eat liver and onions as a kid and I hated it. My mom loved liver and onions so we had it a lot and she would make us clean our plate. 🤢 It was chewy and hard to eat and I thought it was the worst thing ever as a kid. I haven’t had liver since, I am assuming they taste similar so I’ll stay away!

The name alone is disgusting. Never tried; I don't know what its made out of, don't even want to know.

As a kid my grandparents would give it as a treat to their dogs and we would eat it on crackers and enjoyed it.
As an adult I've had it a couple of times but not a fan. My sister though does still like it once in a while.

I like it. Crackers or something like toast points, but even a fried sandwich isn’t bad. It’s one of those foods that once I get my fill, I’m done for a long time.

Liverwurst has a very different taste than liver and onions 🙂
And if my Mom made beef liver and onions we were allowed to say “Don’t do it, Joyce!” according to her mother and MIL :rotfl2:
Still it’s the texture that a lot of people dislike

I live Liverwurst/Braunschweiger. My wife HATES liver but loves Braunschweiger, and honestly didn't know if was made from liver. Almost impossible to find liverwurst here, stores only carry Braunschweiger which is smoked liverwurst.

As I live Germany, I eat this. Mine doesn't look like yours. Yours looks rather, gross.[no offence my friend!] What we have here is tasty.

I bet it's better than canned pork brains and milk.
I will say that liverwurst is an acquired taste, and it's likely not on most people's shopping list on a regular basis. Pork brains and milk from a can??? :faint: I had brains (cattle I think) with scrambled eggs as a kid. It was ok while I was eating it, but in retrospect it's not something I do again.

Love, love, love, love, love, LOVE it!

I have it as a sandwich with mustard and Swiss.

LOVE IT!!

My dad used to eat it. I tried it once or twice as a child, strongly disliked it, and have never had it again.
