Our life is filled relationships - family, friends, spouse, significant other, co workers, neighbors and etc.
This leads me to ask…..

NOT INCLUDING family - what is the longest relationship, in years, you have with someone?
Please post who that relationship is with.

*No “other” today - we all have some type of relationship with someone - even if it’s a doctor, priest, or anyone else like that.

For Me…..My longest relationship is with my best girlfriend - soon it will be 50 years. Her family moved next door to my family when we were 2 years old. My mom and her mom remain friends too.

The runner up will be my DH - we’ve known each other since 6th grade. We grew up 2 blocks away from each other, shared a bus stop, ”went together” in middle school, started dating our senior year of HS, remained together until we got married at 23yrs old and 28 years later we are still happily married. We’ve literally grown up together - not many spouses can say that.

The runner of the runner up will be my gynecologist, who announced her retirement - she’s been my doctor for over 30 years. She delivered both my girls and has been the best doctor. She always says that we grew up together, and she’s right - I started going to her a few years after she started seeing patients. I’m going to miss her very much.

Several coworkers from old jobs who we remained friends going on 35 years
My Gyn who will be retiring soon over 37 years - one of her first patients
My eye Dr over 50 years at his practice hardly any original people left ! I’m on my 3rd eye Dr but 2nd still there I see him upon occasion
My general Dr - over 35 years will be beyond heart broke when he retires

Tough one...there are tons of people I know, who over the years have been close but are no longer. We are still acquainted, of course, some from my earliest memory. But without regular contact, it’s hard to consider them “relationships”. In terms of faithful, day-in-and-day-out doubt life together, it’s my DH - clocking in at 30 years. Saturday is our 28th Anniversary.

I have two that I’ve been friends with for 51 years. My girlfriend, who is 6 months older than me. We lived two houses from each other after my family moved to the neighborhood when I was 5. We were the only two girls on the block at the time. She walked me to my first day of kindergarten when she was in first grade. ❤️

Second is my other girlfriend, who I became friends with in kindergarten and lived a block away. We spent a lot of nights sleeping over each other’s houses. ❤️

I have a couple other girlfriends that I’ve known since junior high, so about 40 years.

We all still live in this area, with 3 of them buying houses in the neighborhood we grew up in. We see each other every few months or so. I’m grateful for them.

That would be my friend John. We met in 5th grade. Still somewhat in touch. He posts his adventures to Facebook and I read and occasionally reply.

@slo you made me think of my dentist! When he said he was retiring I actually cried. From childhood through 30s, he was my dentist. Still not over it.

My BFF who moved in next door when she was 5, I was 7. So...38 years?

Next is my other BFF...we were 10 when we met. So, 35 years.

The DH, we've been together for 30 years this last summer.

Longest would be my best friend. We’ve been friends since 7th grade in 1974, 49 years ago. Second would be my husband. We met almost exactly 43 years ago and will celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary next month.

Church friends , over 35 years.

DH, met in 73 at work. So 50 years.

Isn't it rotten of these Drs. to actually have the nerve to retire??????

The family practice we go to, started with single dr. We went to get blood test over 45 years ago for marriage license. Then it was two Drs, then a few more. Now the orignal drs are gone , the few more are gone, now seeing the third cycle of drs in that practice. There are about 20 medical people and about 30 office people to deal with the paperwork.

Although we don't talk all that often, my first friend and I still keep in touch. I met her in 1974 when I started attending her mom's preschool. her mom and my mom became best friends also, and they stayed so very close for almost 35 years until my mom passed away, I still kept in touch with her as well, until she passed away a few years ago.
My friend's birthday is coming up soon, and we always catch up on birthdays, so looking forward.

ExH. Married for 19 years, met two years before that.

You could say we still have a relationship. We talk about once a month, usually about our two DDs.

So overall 38 years now. We met Labor Day weekend 1985.

My BFF and I have been close since freshman year of HS... 1980.

DH and I started dating in January 1990, married in 1994.

I’m 66 years old, met my best friend when I was 13. So 53 years we have been friends. I don’t see her often anymore as she lives 2 hours away, but we keep in touch.

DH, we met in March 1975, married 6 months later. Will be celebrating our 48th wedding anniversary on the 27th❤️

I dropped out of contact with a lot of my friends, but I do have a friendly relationship with my best friend from kindergarten through middle school. We were still friendly in HS and saw each other through college breaks. Our mothers were close and live within a couple of blocks of each other at a 55 and over community. So for her -- it's 52 years.

I'm connected with another kindergarten friend on Linked In, but not as close as the other.

DH - since 1986 (didn't date until 1989, married 1990).
