If I see something that I know someone would like or what I've been looking for, I'll pick it up (a sale is even better). I already know of a few items I want to get for my daughter that I'll pick up soon (shoes and a purse). I've done this for many years but the last two years I have forgotten where I stashed them and found them a few months later. Also have bought doubles (Lego sets). Need to start writing it down...and not lose the list.

I’m one of those who shop year round…always have been. If I see something I think is a good deal or something that I think someone will like or a great gag gift for our family white elephant gift exchange…I buy it. An example is I saw a close out from a catalog of some really cute jewelry pouches, so I bought 15 of them to give to all the female members of my family along with 15 glass nail files last week..still need something for the guys. Last year, I bought 40 ‘cooling cloths’ to give to everyone at our family party (and yeah, between my daughter, her spouse, my grands, my siblings, their spouses, their kids, their kids spouses and their kids kids…it’s 40 people). The only gifts I wait to buy during the official ‘season’ is lottery scratch offs.

I don't agree with even mentioning the word Christmas in the summer, let alone starting to buy presents 😂

I don't believe in buying presents really last minute, but don't even start thinking about buying anything until November time. The worst bit is avoiding all of the Christmas chocolates they start bringing out earlier and earlier every year, making you think Christmas starts in September...

Usually start Christmas shopping between December 10th to the 15th. Most of our Christmas gifts tend to be practical items like electric toothbrushes, or a bottle of wine that generally never are out of stock. And we are surrounded by Amazon warehouses so if it is something from Amazon, even without Prime it may be on my door step as soon as the next day.
Sure, there were advantages to shopping early when our kids were kids and they wanted hot items like Razor Scooters for Christmas. It is a bit depressing to realize I paid $99 each for my kids Christmas gift Razor scooters 25 years ago, and they are selling for $29 today!

I don't purposely shop for Christmas during the summer, but if I see something that *works!* for someone, I'll buy it (especially if I'm out thrifting.) Last week, I just showed a Louis L'Amour collection of short stories to my SIL that I bought for BIL... she laughed and nodded "Yep! He'll love it!" I also like using my summers off from school to work on homemade gifts (like quilts/crafts) for Christmas presents too. I bake cookies every day in December (starting on the 1st) for coworkers, so it's always helpful if I have most of my shopping done (otherwise, it's on-line shopping all the way!)

Of course, the Hallmark channel also does their Christmas in July programming (which I love!) and admittingly, I'll put the tv on the channel just to drive DH crazy! :rotfl2:

I don’t specifically Christmas shop, but do buy things when I see them. The purchases may end up being a Christmas gift, birthday gift, for some other occasion, or for no reason at all.

We travel a great deal (currently in Norway) so we pick up presents for people as we see them as we won't have access to those products in the run up to Christmas itself.

I’m actually headed to Frankenmuth, MI in 2 weeks. I’ll be shopping at the Bronners Christmas store for Christmas ornaments!

I usually start shopping in October, although every year I tell myself I’m going to start shopping in the summer so I can enjoy the holidays more, but it never happens. We have 5 kids and a huge extended family, so holiday gift shopping takes a lot of time and a lot of money. Starting super early makes sense but I can never bring myself to do it for some reason.
