As my departure day gets closer and closer, I have my upcoming flights on my mind. One thing I think about is eating - I always like to make sure we have time to eat something hot before our flight. Other people do this too, but they choose to bring their hot food on the plane and eat it there. I’m going to bite my tongue, in regards to this, to avoid insulting anyone. What’s your thoughts on this………

Do you bring your own hot food/take out on your flight?
If yes….is it something from home, something from a take out place outside of the airport or something from inside the airport?
If yes…..is this something you do for every flight or just when you are pressed for time?
(multiple choice)

For Me…….Never ever do I, or my family members, bring hot food on our flight(s). I will bring nonscented snack foods on my flight to snack on like dry cereal, granola bar and items like that. Luckily, I’ve never had someone sit next to me with stinky hot food, and hopefully I never will.

Never hot food. Mostly prepackaged snacks. Occasionally we’ll buy a sandwich or a bagel and cream cheese from an airport restaurant, just in case we get hungry. But we rarely even eat it on the plane.

I always eat at the airport before I get on a flight if it’s in the morning or early evening flight if I’m coming home from DISNEY I made it DISNEY before I go to the airport I never take food to eat on a plane I will take snacks but not like a meal never ever
I have had the displeasure of sitting next to someone who brought food onto a plane and sat and ate it next to me - this particular flight was an all day event and I was quite hungry and literally wanted to reach over there and grab some of his fries🤣🤣🤣🤣 in this particular flight several people grab food and brought it onto the plane it was a very long flight and I was extremely hungry I’m really not sure how they had time to grab food because we barely had time to make the flight so I was quite impressed that they had time to grab food that probably would’ve been the one and only time I would’ve gotten food and brought it on the flight otherwise no I don’t do that

Not really "hot" food, but if I'm taking a longer flight that will be during a meal and the airline doesn't offer proper meal service (Southwest), I always bring food from one of the restaurants in the airport.

If it's breakfast, I grab some kind of egg/bacon sandwich. If it's lunch or dinner, I'm on the hunt for a caprese sandwich. And some kind of trail mix or Chex mix. Once, when I was a teenager, I had a chili dog before getting on a flight. Big mistake. A cold mozzarella cheese/tomato/pesto sandwich is a lot less likely to upset my tummy.

The only airline besides Southwest that I use with any regularity is United. Yes, they do meal service. Yes, it's scary, so I frequently need that backup sandwich.

I don't bring hot food....ever (DD does sometimes....from the airport).
If our flight crosses lunch, I sometimes pack cheese and crackers.....and I always pack us snacks, especially to Orlando (long flight).
We're 2 weeks from our flight :)

I haven't flown in years but when I did, no. I did bring snacky things but most of the flights we/I have taken have been at least 8 hours, usually longer to another country so meals are served. I imagine if I had a reason to fly now, I wouldn't take a discount airline, too old and too tired to deal with the hassle.

Never hot food. Sometimes get a burger or some chicken nuggets to share before getting on the plane. Once we brought a bagel and cream cheese and I was surprised how much you could smell the bread and cheese. Not a bad smell, but you could tell it wasn't the chips, preztels , gold fish snacky type food.

No hot food, sandwiches, meals or the like. Usually a wrapped something, like a granola bar, protein bar or similar. A bottle of water.

I have, on occasion, brought some airport fast food on the plane. Usually it's if I don't have time to eat in the airport. I would never bring any prepared foods from outside the airport, just seems like a pain to have to take it through security.

Not sure how you define “hot food” but I’ve often picked up something handheld at the concessions near the departure gates and carried it on. I’ve also sat with/near countless others doing the same thing. I see nothing wrong with this at all. And I’m a little confused by the poll choice of “brought it from home”. How would you get a hot, homemade meal through security? If they won’t let you take a tube of toothpaste, I doubt they would allow a Tupperware full of roast beef and mashed potatoes.:confused3

Usually not hot food unless it was McDonald's, Starbucks or some breakfast sandwich in the airport. I'm known for grabbing a sandwich from Disney to take home to eat on the plane or right before.

While I don't mind a little snack on the plane, I do not like having a full meal on a flight. The only exception I'd make is a longer international flight and I'll let the airline cover the food in that case. Still, it's normally tight quarters and I don't like messing around with too much mid flight. I'd rather eat with more space and freedom, so anything more substantial is consumed before boarding. I'm also not a fan of bringing food from home. My luck, something will leak which is never good when my carryon items are typically filled with "emergency" provisions in case my checked luggage gets lost. So, we usually buy food in the terminal if we're hungry.

Like most on the thread, maybe a snack or two, but never a meal, unless it's a cold sandwich or a bagel. Most of the time now, we will get to the airport a little ahead of time and go to the airport lounge to get a quick meal and drink.

I never do this. There was at least one time where I had a very tight connection due to a de3lay and had to grab food fast and take it onboard, but it was a cold sandwich and I would likely always opt for that.
