This is my DD20’s last few days at home before she returns to school, and during this time all our dinners are foods she enjoys (whenever she’s home I only make her favorites), because she won’t be back until the middle of May . Tonight is popcorn shrimp, she’s always enjoyed popcorn shrimp. So for today I ask….

What is your opinion of popcorn shrimp?
Do you make it at home or get in a restaurant?
Do you eat them with cocktail sauce or ketchup?
(multiple choice)

For Me……I‘ve always liked popcorn shrimp and I eat it mainly at home. I have ordered it in a restaurant, but it’s been an incredibly long time ago. I eat my popcorn shrimp with ketchup - I’m not the biggest lover of cocktail sauce.

It’s OK. I like fried shrimp but I much prefer jumbo or butterflied. I usually only eat the popcorn ones at restaurants, if it come as a part of a platter. I’ll use cocktail sauce, ketchup, lemon or tartar sauce as the condiment. All are good.

I eat deep-fried food very sparingly - it needs to be totally worth the horrible reflux it causes. I also almost never heat up frozen, deep-fried food at home. The lingering grease smell really bugs me.

Year's ago Red Lobster had a spicy cocktail sauce as well as the regular. You can kind of create something similar by adding a little hot sauce to the regular cocktail sauce, but it is not quite as good as what they used to provide. That said, I do like their popcorn shrimp and use the modified cocktail sauce to dip it in.

I used to work at Red Lobster in college. It was extra horseradish they would add to make it spicier if you want to try to recreate it.

I like shrimp, but have never had popcorn shrimp. I most often eat it cold in a cocktail or salad, or in scampi sauce with pasta.

I have probably not had these in 20+ years, but loved them as a kid. Fried shrimp, while tasty, is far too much grease for me. Gimme shrimp in any other fashion, though, but breaded, and I can eat my weight in them! With extra spicy cocktail sauce, please!

Love shrimp! 🍤

I tend to not have fried shrimp often, I do like popcorn shrimp but prefer larger fried shrimp as long as it isn't coconut shrimp (I don't like the sweet.) I have never made any typed of fried shrimp it at home.

Too much breading and not enough shrimp there so I will eat them, but I don't order them or fix them at home.

Is popcorn shrimp really shrimp at all? I'm not a fan....
