A big part many people’s holiday baking is homemade fudge. I personally have never made it, and my mom or grandma never made it, but I enjoy eating fudge that other people have made. I keep telling myself every year that I need to try and make fudge, and then every year the Holidays come and go, and I never tried making the fudge. So I’m sweetly asking you today…….

Have you ever made homemade fudge?
If yes, have you made it this year?
If no, does somebody in your family make homemade fudge?
(Multiple choice)

*Any of us can get a recipe online, but it’s never as good as a recipe given by a friend. If you have a homemade fudge recipe, that you are willing to share with us, please post it. Thank you.

For Me……As I mentioned above, I have never made homemade fudge. I’d like to make homemade fudge, but I just never do. It sure is a yummy sweet treat :goodvibes

OMG SLO - PM me I have a ton of fudge recipes I have been making it since I was a little kid you just tell me what kind of fudge urine in and I got a recipe for ya easy Peezy lemon squeezy You can do this go great with all those cookies your baking and all those Christmas balls

I have made more fudge than a fudge factory🤣🤣🤣 having run a side baking business we did huge cookie trays and they came with fudge we also sold fudge separately I have made countless kinds of fudge trade secret here if the fudge didn’t turn out quite right I turned it into cookie balls 🤣🤣🤣🤣

My personal favorite is chocolate peanut butter fudge of course it is because I love Reese’s peanut butter cups so of course I love chocolate peanut butter fudge

My sister-in-law makes homemade fudge. She says that it is really easy. I've made it in the past but found it tricky to get it right. I think I once used a recipe that included marshmallow fluff. But I haven't tried to make it in years.

I have made it in the past, but not this year. The problem I find is that it’s so rich that nobody eats more than a small piece at any time and the recipe makes so much that we end up throwing away half of it in January.

The grandkids and I have already made fudge. I have always used the Tollhouse choc chips recipe. Works like a charm and is delicious.

Have made various types of candy recipes in the past and the success rate has always been very low. I find that ANY recipe involving 'cooking sugar' on the stove is VERY fussy and the temperature of your house and/or the humidity level on the day you make it are apparently a BIG factor in the success. Even when using a good candy thermometer, I have never found any recipe that says how to adjust the cook time/temp based on those factors and have basically given up trying to make such recipes. Ones that say 'boil for 5 minutes' are useless as you need to cook the sugar to a specific temperature (along with the adjustment for room temp/humidity) to get consistent/repeatable results. Was watching some TV show recently done at a commercial candy factory and they also commented about how they have to adjust certain variables as well as cool the mixture at specific rates to get good results.

I have great success with all other types of cooking/baking, but any type of candy recipe is basically too unpredictable to waste my time/ingredients on it anymore. Agree as mentioned above even when you get good results, people can only eat a tiny bit of it since it is so rich and most just ends up in the trash once it goes stale.

I have made fudge before but it’s been years. Mom used to make fudge every year but hasn’t in a while. The recipe we used is the original Fantasy Fudge recipe from the back of marshmallow fluff.

The recipe has changed so you have to search for original fantasy fudge to find the recipe.

I've never made fudge but pre pandemic a friend made a delicious batch of it for our church potluck supper. Sweet treat enjoyment to all! :)

Fantasy Fudge......for over 50 years now.
I can add different flavors, different nuts and it always comes out great.
DS's request every Christmas but he likes sliced almonds in it. I make it for him for his birthday too.

I have made fudge from both a traditional recipe and the marshmallow fluff recipe. They both came out fine. However, the last thing I need around here is more tempting sweets, so I don't bother anymore.

I voted other. I tried making it once. Didn't work well, never tried to make it again.

Can you all print a recipe that a 5 year old can follow?

Interesting. Fudge making is not a thing among my friends or family. Mostly cookies and quick breads around the holidays. DD and I made brownies last night. I think cupcakes or cookies will happen tonight. I need to teach her how to make peanut butter cookies. I think gingerbread will happen over the weekend once I get a chance to buy some vanilla ice cream. Chocolate chip cookies will happen on the 23rd or 24th.

I do make fudge and am very picky about fudge. Most fudge that I have eaten is too much like hardened frosting. Fudge should be a bit grainy and best eaten chilled.

I know there are many recipe variations for fudge, but this one is new to me! :earboy2:
OMG ever since I did my phone update my phone has gone crazy it looks perfectly fine when I type it and then it post and it goes crazy that is not the word I meant to use and I am so very sorry because that’s disgusting I meant to say I just need to know the type of fudge you want to have how does that come out to be urine ???? 🤮 I can only hope this post correctly
Sorry for making you all sick 🤢

I do like fudge, but as a Type II diabetic, I have to limit my consumption, which is why I also do not make it. Yes, I suppose you could make it with some sort of diet sweetener, but just yuck all the way. My personnel favorite when I was making these sorts of desserts was Rum balls. These are kind of like fudge, but nice and boozy. Even when I made them with Rum extract (which is of course alcohol based), people said they were very boozy.

I used to make it, haven't recently. But Slo you may have given me the nudge to make some this year!

I'm no great shakes in the baking department, but I've always used a super simple, super easy recipe w/ just vanilla, sweet condensed milk & chocolate chips. Kids always like it, so maybe I'll make some.

@kanerf - re: RUM BALLS.....now these I can/do make. High octane, heavy on the rum, I'm talking fumes rising when you open the tin 🎄🏺:cool1:🎄

I've made fudge several times, but rarely just to eat as blocks of fudge. I have found that it makes a nice dense cake filling that holds up well to stacking. I don't often eat the commercially produced stuff because the consistency is off and the mouth feel is strange. I do like a little "grit" to mine but don't care for the overall flavor of old fashioned recipes that work with cocoa powder and a ton of granulated sugar, but I will toss in some granulated sugar towards the end to give it some of that classic texture. I also don't make it regularly because even at the holidays, that's just too much hard to stop eating decadence just sitting around screaming to be consumed.

I think I've made it myself as an adult years ago. Probably a recipe from a cookbook though. My mom would make it most holiday season as a kid I think. I've thought of making it but haven't found a recipe that I want to try yet as many are too sweet for me.
