If you haven’t tried cilantro rice, it’s pretty darn good. I saw it the first time about 4-5 years ago, and only Uncle Ben’s brand had it (the exact type in the picture below). Now Rice A Roni, Knorr and Zataran’s have cilantro rice and I’ve tried them all and they are all pretty good. I just made some last night, which is what inspired this poll. So I’m wondering today…….

Have you tried cilantro rice?
If yes, was it homemade or store bought?
What is your opinion of it?
(Multiple choice)

*For Me……As I mentioned above, I do make it and like it, but not all the time, only when I make certain Mexican type meals. I buy it probably 6-7 times a year.

I haven't tried it.....if I did I would just make it at home.
I don't eat rice anymore

I've bought packets like that, but I don't think I've tried that particular one yet. I like cilantro, though, so I would.

I checked "I've tried it," "I've made it from scratch," and "Other."

I have had it and I like it. I first tried it in restaurants. Then I made it from scratch at home. I have never bought the packets to make at home though. I didn't even realize they made them.

I like cilantro in moderation (there can definitely be too much on some dishes, but I like it in the rice.)

I've tried it and like it. There's a smaller brand that one of the local grocery stores carries. It's pretty good. I've had it at restaurants too and enjoyed it as well.

By the way, isn't it cilantro rice at Chipotle?

I have made it at home (made from scratch) and at restaurants. I have not bought it. I usually serve Spanish rice with Mexican but sometimes mix it up with cilantro.

Haven't bought cilantro flavored rice, but I do eat rice and I enjoy cilantro in Mexican dishes. I'd probably like it but just make it at home,.

I've tried it, I think I liked it, but I'd be willing to try it again. I dont' mind cilantro. I don't like instant rice, and never make any of the packaged rice like that at home. But I could give it a try to see.

A number of the family owned Mexican restaurants here serve it in place of the standard rice side. I never bother making it at home because it doesn’t even come close. There are some recipes out there but I don’t love it enough to make the effort. Some places here even top it with queso fresco. Still, most look like this…

A way to ruin perfectly good rice is by making it taste like soap.
Exactly.

The one and only time I've eaten at Chipotle, I couldn't figure out why the rice tasted like soap... I haven't been back, and learned I don't like cilantro.
