It’s always fun to find an item with your name on it, especially if you have a name that’s normally harder to find. My mom’s name is Claudia and when she was a child, it always made her sad that she couldn’t find her name on anything. This always made me sad for her, and I never wanted my children to feel this way, so we named them names that they can go in most gift shops on vacations, or wherever, and hopefully almost always find their names on souvenirs. When I was a kid, my name was on most things, but my mom would always look for her name and nothing. So when I became an adult, and travel without her, my DH would always and still do, look for her name and 98% of the time we do not find it. If we do, we buy it, even if it’s something she’ll never use and she’s so happy when she gets it. So, why do we like to see our names on things? Let’s find out…..

In today’s world, there’s many websites we can use to put people’s names on an item, but it’s not the same as finding your name somewhere. How do you feel about having your name on an item? Let’s identify with our answer today….

How do you feel about having your name on an item?
Is your name easy to find on items in a store?
If not, will you buy the item if you find your name?
(multiple choice)

For Me…..I love having my name on an item - I think it’s fun. Since my name is relatively easy to find (both Sandra and Sandy), I don’t feel compelled to buy everything I find. What inspired this poll is the horse pictured below ⬇️. Both Meijer grocery stores by me have this horse for children to ride on, and it’s named Sandy. The other day, a cashier had the little horse by her cash register and I had to have it. So I asked about it and she said they sell them for $3, so I bought it and it’s now sitting on my desk at work - it’s my new desk name plate :lmao:IMG_0917.jpeg

I have a few things with my name "Kitty" on it but I didn't look to buy them they were specially made for me. One very special one was an ornament given to me by a fellow DISer whom unfortunately I don't see around here anymore.

Nancy, my grandson bought me a little necklace that simply says Grandma on it. Love it.

Sandy, my sons grew up riding on Sandy all the time. That western song will forever be stuck in my head! :goodvibes

When I was a kid I can never find my name on an item now that I’m older I do find my name quite frequently I have a few few things with my name on it but it’s a general rule I’m not looking for it too often but that horse is adorable!!! 😊 if I seen the horse I think I would’ve gotten too

I found my nickname, Sue, on a little hand painted bud vase at a craft show when I was 12 years old. I have treasured that vase ever since. I still have it. I think it is the only thing I have with my name on it. :)

My full name, Susan, was very popular when I was born. It has recently seen enough popularity to once again appear on "things" like coffee mugs and keychains.

I don't usually buy things with Sue on it. :)

Now my daughter can never find things, but I don't think she cares. A very popular name when she was born, but it is spelled different. Christin.
Son's is Geoff but he don't want things.
DIL will never find things, M'Cori

I said indifferent. I do look or my daughter will say there’s your name. Never buy anything though . I did get gifted a small wallet and a mug decades ago. Still have them.

I have gifted name things to my kids and nieces over the years.

I don’t think I have bought or received anything with my name on it since I was a child. I have a common name and I do see it on things if I happen to be somewhere with names on things I often see it. When Coke was putting names on bottles several of my name ended up in our vending machine at work. Anytime anyone got one they left it on my desk.

Back in my prime looking for items with my name years (mid 80's to early 90's) my name was commonly spelled two ways. I would always check to see which version was on an item. I still have a magnet with my name that my grandpa purchased for me.

I love my name now because I’m named after my maternal grandmother, but growing up, I didn’t as much because it was uncommon and a very uncommon spelling. I Never , never found my name on anything. I remember thinking it would be cool to have a company that could put anyone’s name on stuff. My first husband also had a unique name , and it’s funny because we decided when we named our son , that we were going to go extremely traditional, no unique spellings, just a very traditional name. I think our having uniquely spelled names influenced that somewhat. My other two kids also have very traditional names, and traditional spellings.

I've never seen my name on an item, so I've never had the opportunity. No, it's not Thomas. My user name comes from a nickname my father gave me back in the day. I have a very unusual first name that I've never seen on pre-made items. I'm sure I could special order something, but it's not something I'd want either way.

I don't look for mine since I wouldn't buy anything with it on it. I like my name well enough but I know what it is so I don't need to see it on things around my home. The only thing I own with my name on it is an old name plate that sat on my desk when you had to have those. I do have a lapel pin that my mama got me that hints at my name but doesn't actually say it. I don't use my name on line and even my email doesn't have it. Very few of my family members even use it. Hubby calls me honey, his family uses my real name. My parents both had nicknames for me and I really can't remember a time either called me by my real name. Every now and again one of my brother's will call me by it but it's rare.

I’m indifferent, but I agree with others about having Grandma, or “Babci” on something makes it very special, especially on a gift homemade by a grandchild! We have Polish heritage!

Well, you and I share the same name, so your ease of finding items with Sandy or Sandra is pretty similar. Although, I do prefer finding Sandy. I kind of feel bad for my friend Sandi because she never finds anything with the "i" spelling. Most of the stuff I have with my name on it is actually custom, so even if I find things premade, I never buy them.

Rarely find my name on things. Occasionally there will be something but I don’t buy it. The only thing I have with my name in it is a pair of mouse ears but that doesn’t really count because they were custom embroidered not ready made.
