Which is better?
Costco or Sam’s Club?
(multiple choice - let us know what membership you have now and what you had in the past)


For Me….Always Sam’s Club
We have had a Costco membership before (the same time as a Sam’s Club membership) and during that time we were at Sam’s Club more. Many times we’d leave Costco and go immediately to Sam’s Club (they are a stone’s throw away from each other) because they didn’t have what we wanted. Sam’s Club has more brands that we use and like, so now we only have a Sam’s Club membership.

I’ve never been to a Sam’s Club.

I was invited for a free 30 day Costco trial when they opened in my area. They gave me a few really good coupons too. Their products were very good. But I decided not to join after the 30 days.

I already belonged to BJ’s and saw no need to belong to two clubs. I’ve since dropped BJ’s. It’s only DH and I now and I really don’t want to buy in large quantities despite my over abundance of storage space.

We used to go to Sam's when the boys were young. We don't have Costco's around where we live so have never been to one.

We had a Sam’s Club membership many years ago, but then they closed our location. We didn’t have any membership for a long time, but then they opened a Costco relatively close to us. I think we like Costco more than we liked Sam’s but it’s not a true side-by-side comparison. Right now we have a Costco membership and are happy with it with no plans to change.

We have both. Sam's has a lot of the things we use for lunches (fruit, snacks, etc) but Costco has been carrying several of the snack brands that accommodate my daughters food allergies so we go both.

I don't belong to either. We have BJ's here, though, and have had a membership to that on and off over the years. We do right now, actually, but we don't go very often.

Overall, Costco wins by far. I buy a lot more on my every two weeks trips
Sam's wins for snack food. Hate the club layout. I go once a month and end up not buying much.

Really like the Kirkland brand over the Member Mark brand so much more.
And Costco still has senior hours....love that!!

A Sam’s Club opened here almost 20 years ago to great fanfare, only to close a few years later. It couldn’t compete with Costco. I go to Costco about 4 times a year.

For those that say Costco doesn't have variety, you need to check out a business center. You can use the regular membership and they have tons of varieties of snacks.

Costco for me ! Had a Sam’s years ago - it was ok - dropped it when they opened the Costco - I like the choices better at Costco and I use my membership to rent cars as second driver is free.
I try to limit my trips to every 6 to 8 weeks and mainly I stock up on household products as meat has become a luxury item no beef for me
their Chicken (just like Walmart) are cheap and delicious !!
i have been a member for a very long time and enjoy going always amazes me the odd item I can find at Costco

I chose Other because my sister has a Costco membership and I've gone on occasion with her. I've never been to Sam's Club.

I was going to get a Costco membership because I have a large family and I thought if I bought in bulk and then split things up into individual packages I'd save money. But it really didn't work out that way because I'm buying less food overall now.

Just an FYI they posted on Facebook that they are getting rid of senior hours starting 4/18/22.

I go to Sam's because it's about 40 minutes away. The closest Costco is almost 2 hours. I really don't have a choice until there is one closer to where I live.

Closest business center is twice as far as Costco or Sam's club
My Costco and Sam's Club are just a less than a mile apart

Been a member of Costco when only business were only let in because my parents owned one. So 80’s I think.

We don’t have a Sam’s Club any more in Canada they didn’t last long maybe a year . Did have a membership but thought there prices were more because they had a lot of brand names.

Only husband and I now to but still go. Love all there seasonal things. Ours don’t sell alcohol here though. Heck they have only let Walmart a few years ago to sell beer. Love checking out your Costco while there, heck even different Costco here have different stuff sometimes.

First got a Sam's membership when the wife and I were first married, there were no Costcos within a reasonable distance then. When we had the first kid we looked at switching but cost for diapers, formula and other baby items were much cheaper at Sam's than at Costco. Now the wife won't even consider switching.
