Going to be odd not having my any of my kids in school anymore Since graduating in May.

I do have a lot of nieces and nephews going back in September. 3 of them starting Jr kindergarten this year.

Oldest DD starts her senior year of college in a few weeks. Middle DD starts her freshman year of college the same week, but leaves for orientation the week before that. Youngest DD starts her sophomore year of high school the same week the older girls classes start. And just like that, we will be down to 3 “full-time” members of our household. Bittersweet. My two younger girls are super close and the youngest is going to struggle without her sister. I love that they are close, but I think we might have a bumpy few weeks.

DGD and DGS go to school on Thursday (which is also DS's BD).
DGS going into kindergarten and DGD into 4th grade.
No more Wednesday baking classes for us :( We've been doing them for 2 years while they were home schooled.
It will be an adjustment for everyone after 2 years at home.

Are they excited?

Are they excited?
Not sure.....DGS only remembers home school. He just turn 3 when the pandemic hit and just in day care. He will be fine.
DGD likes Auntie teaching her at home. She has "issues" so we'll see how it goes.
And they will be wearing uniforms for the first time. It has been a challenge. DGD has one shirt, the rest have been ordered.
I think the biggest adjustment is for DS. He has to get them up, dressed, fed and drive them. He usually gets up the time they have to leave.

Nobody. My kids as 35 and 31. My oldest grandchild is 3 so is 2 years away from starting school.
As for when school resumes, good question. One public school district in my area went back LAST WEEK.
The District I live in goes back August 11th. When I went to school in that same district and our first day always was the day after Labor Day. But 20 some odd years ago they shifted the start of school earlier so that first semester finals are now BEFORE Christmas break, instead of after. That makes sense because they were spending the first couple of weeks of January reviewing materials after the kids had been off for two weeks. Now they can skip the review, test the kids before Christmas break, and start fresh with a new semester when they return in January.

No school kids in our house but our district starts Thursday, which I think it ridiculous. Supposedly its so they get out early(end of May) to beat the heat....August is our hottest month here. :sad2:

My niece and nephews don't go back until day after Labor day.

Little DGD marches back to preschool (three days a week) on August 17. We will be picking her up from school as there will be a new baby home with her mom.
I wish they still waited until after Labor Day! :sunny:

I never knew kids went back to school in August until 1977. When Elvis died there was a story about Memphis schools having a day off in remembrance.

The concept was way out of my comfort zone. What kind of idiots make kids go back before Labor Day?!!!!!:scared1:

If it was up to me, school wouldn’t start until “real” fall, September 23, and go until July 1.

I guess it is all perspective. I would much prefer being in school in August, when it is too hot to want to be outside as much, and finish before Memorial Day.

My daughters and son-in-law (teachers) went back today; students start on Thursday.
