Hi Pea n Me: I also shopped for the young kids clothes at thrift stores and yard sales!! I found a lot of good bargains, and I didn't care if they got them roughed up while playing outdoors. Of course, when they were older I bought at dept. stores. I still go to thrift stores, and we are lucky to have many in our town. For me, it's the hunt that is so much fun, and the feeling you get when you find the perfect item!^ Bye! (Spam - Reported)
It depends on the store, but yes, sometimes. Just this past weekend I bought a really beautiful pair of Lands’ End shorts for DD that I saw while browsing at a local church thrift store. They were marked $5, but everything was 50% off so I got them for $2.50!They fit her like a glove, and she really liked them. I also saw a heavy-duty pair of NIke sweatpants that DS wears in the winter in practically new condition so I grabbed those, too, same price. He liked them. When they were young I always shopped second hand along with my regular shopping, so they grew up with it. (More Disney money!!) I also donate, too.
Actually they take holes and stain stuff too. People at these stores go through the stuff and sometimes can be fixed if there is someone that sews. The stain stuff gets cut down to rags if the right material for that sort of thing. If it isn’t useable after that it gets sold by the pound and it gets sent somewhere.I don't shop at thrift stores. My size is a "popular" one so I have a hard time finding my size in any stores, not just thrift stores and especially for styles that I like. Also since I work from home, I find myself buying clothes less often. I only need a few shirts to wear on Zoom and when I'm not on video I wear a T shirt and sweatpants/sports shorts.
As for donating, I do donate clothes that no longer fit me (and are in good condition - I don't donate anything with stains or holes).
Unfortunately, I wear a clothing size that normally isn’t found in thrift stores, but I do like to browse the accessories and other items.
