Going to the beach can be a really relaxing time for some and a messy unenjoyable time for others. My parents took my brother and I to a local beach on a small lake when we were kids and I loved it, but my mom did not because of all the sand that was brought home. My parents never took us to any beaches on large bodies of water like oceans or large lakes - I don’t know why since we live close to Lake Michigan. I took my girls to a Lake Michigan beach a lot and they spent many years going to my in-laws timeshare on The Gulf - it was a lot of fun. I was just looking at pictures of these times recently, which is is what inspired this poll. So, I’m curious today on what your opinion is of going to the beach. Give me your sandy answer today……

Have you spent time on a beach?
If yes…..what’s your opinion of spending time on a beach?
Where were the beaches you went to?
(multiple choice)

For Me…….I like going to the beach. I definitely don’t love it, because more planning goes into beach days than pool days - you just can’t pick up and go, especially if you have little kids. My DH and I are hoping to go to Hawaii next year and if that doesn’t work out, then go to Vero Beach - we will enjoy some beach time at one of those places. I’ve been to beaches on the Pacific Ocean, The Gulf, Lake Michigan and a small Indiana lake.

Love going to beaches, be it salt water or fresh.

Some I've been to are in Jamaica, Cozumel, Playa Del Carmen, Folly Beach, Sullivan Beach and many beaches in the Great Lakes' area.

Timely poll . . . Headed to the beach today! I like beach day visits but love overnight visits. Nothing better than a beach sunrise or sunset (depending on which way that beach faces).

LOVE the beach !!! my favorite so far has been Grand Cayman !! Jamaica was nice there’s been several beaches in Florida I’ve absolutely loved Mexico not so much castaway cay oh it’s nice ❤️ lighthouse point absolutely amazing the Rocky beaches of Maine beautiful the sand and rock beaches in Missouri they will do
The sand beach at the contemporary resort absolutely love it
I’m not picky I’ll take my beach just about anywhere because I’m happy that I’m at the beach and I’m not at work!!! 🏖️🏝️⛱️☀️

Well if you look at my picture and my screen name that about says it all. I love going to any type of body of water. When I was younger I'd spend hours just laying on the beach. Now, I can't tolerate a lot of sun but I still love the sound of the water lapping the shore so if I'm anywhere near water, I have to go and at least spend 5 minutes there. As a scuba diver, I've spent more time under the water than on the beach but I still love to just go and sit on the beach at sunrise or sunset, it feeds my soul.

Many beaches as a kid and younger adukt. Liked them then, not a 'beach person' now. Been to many small lakes within a couple hours drive of Chicago, Lake Michigan, Atlantic and Pacific oceans, Gulf of Mexico

Being of an Irish complexion that turns bright read at the mere hint of Sun, I don't spend much time on the beach these days.

I've been to many beaches. Oceans, lakes of all sizes.
I'm not really a beach person. I don't like going in the water past my ankles and hate just sitting or laying around on one.
So I don't plan on beaches,

 I live in the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains so beach isn't exactly my natural habitat. I can still remember the first time I saw the ocean though (Pacific), and how much different the water and sand was when I later made it to the Caribbean. We cruise a lot and will sometimes take a beach excursion but it's kind of only because we feel like we should, not because we really love it. We don't surf or paddleboard and just laying there baking in the sun has little appeal. And I've been bitten by sand fleas more than once - I'm a little paranoid about it now.

I have been several times. I always love it.

I have done the Atlantic Ocean, and the Gulf in Florida too. Lake Michigan is great as well. I particularly love the Bay of Biscay beaches in France.

We live about 15 miles away from Chicago but only been to a beach in Chicago once. We have been to Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin beaches, though. We've also been to beaches on the Atlantic coast and the Gulf. We have been to Hawaii and the Caribbean and spent plenty of time on those beaches. And there have been lots of lakes, including Lake Superior. But going to beaches has never been a significant part of any trip. My husband has no interest in a beach vacation. I have to limit my time in the sun because of issues with skin cancer.

Love it. We have a summer house on Lake Erie and while we don't have a beach right outside, we're a couple minute drive from a nice beach on a state park nearby.

Been to beaches now on three oceans (Atlantic, Pacific and the Indian). Our favorite one was probably our last - the beach resort we stayed last year in Mozambique after our safari vacation (our first time in the Indian Ocean). And we're heading back to our favorite regularly visited beach - Ka'anapali Beach in Maui, this fall. :)

Relatives own a place at the ocean and have been there a few times. Can either take it or leave it. Apparently a LOT of people like the ocean/beach but just never has never been that much of an attraction. The salt air is VERY corrosive to anything on the outside of their house and seems to cause things like wood to deteriorate at about 2x the normal exposure elsewhere. They have also had a number of exterior electrical issues which I assume relates to the corrosive nature of the salt air.

They are only there a few times each year and live hundreds of miles away. They spend a lot of time coordinating needed repairs which can be a challenge from so far away. They are generally able to rent out their place in season when not there, but at best they seem to break even. Certainly they do not make any money from it. For anyone who likes the beach/ocean, I would recommend you rent a place when you are there (vs. own) and then can avoid the hassle of trying to maintain a property by remote control when you aren't there.

Yes!!! Have been to beaches all around the world. Love the sand and water. I’m a swimmer, so grew up swimming in the Pacific. So good for you!

I’ve been to many beaches, and used to love it. I love swimming more than just laying on a beach towel. Sadly, my ankles don’t support my walking on sand any more, so, I don’t go to the beach any more. If I can see the ocean, or water from a boardwalk area, I do sit and look at the water from there. I do love to cruise and sit on a balcony looking out!

I've been to a few lake and ocean beaches and I can take or leave them. I enjoyed it for a while, but think I'd get quickly bored and need to find something to occupy my time long term.
