From what I’ve always understood, dreaming happens to all of us, but not all of us remember our dreams. For the last couple of months, I’ve been dreaming a lot. I don’t remember what they are specifically about, but I wake up definitely knowing I was dreaming. Before this recent stretch of dreaming, I didnt recall dreaming at all. The only thing that changed is me going to bed a little earlier, but I don’t know if that would make a difference. When it comes to dreams, there’s all types of them, and we can’t control what type we have, which stinks, especially if you’re someone who has nightmares. Before we go any further, here’s some info about dreaming…….

I’ve read before how you should journal your dreams, and that is a good idea, and maybe something I’ll start doing. Time to talk about your dreams, so give us your dreamy good answer today……

When you do dream….what type of dreams do you remember having?
The explanation of types are…..

*No “Other” today - no need for it

For Me……From what I recall, my dreams are normal, lucid and definitely false awakenings. This year I’ve been really diligent about tracking my sleep, and many times I think I had a terrible nights sleep, because I kept waking up, to then see my sleep results, and I did not wake up a lot and I got a good sleep score. I have only one memory of a nightmare, that’s a core memory, and it was from when I was a new mom 27 years ago. That was a dream of my DD dying and I will never forget that dream until the day I die.

I frequently dream. I have 3 recurring dreams. The first is that DH's bos decide to open a store a few towns over and tells us we have to move. Another is he is having an affair and wants a divorce (he gets quite offended when I have that one). And the third is our house has more than doubled in value since we bought it, which is true, and he convinces me to sell it in order to buy something new. But after we sell it, we discover that we can't buy anything, because everything's way too expensive, and we end up with a dog, a cat.Two kids and us and a one bedroom apartment.Because we can't afford anything else.

Sometimes I will have dreams so vivid i have to ask him if we actually had the conversation I dreamed about, or I just dreamed of because I can't tell

I don’t always remember my dreams sometimes I do sometimes I see myself narrating my dreams and directing them which is weird
Ive had the same dream over and over through the years I won’t get into details but it would make a great Stephen King movie And it’s been that same weird dream through the years it just keeps continuing it - I kind of pick up where it left off and we go from there and I remember that dream every time I have it it is such a weird dream and yes it involves aliens and it’s all happening at my childhood home thankfully I have not had that dream in a long time I wouldn’t call it a nightmare I would just call it strange I don’t wake up scared or anything I just kind of wake up thinking well that was weird
For the most part though I don’t remember my dreams perhaps that’s a good thing🤣🤣
I do know the ones that I do remember are always in vivid color and they always have people in it that I know

I have normal dreams. I also have recurring themes, like I got separated from traveling companions, lost my phone, and don't know their phone numbers. I used to have recurring dreams about missing my commuter train or being on the wrong train, but those have stopped after a few years of retirement. I sometimes dream that I am trying to solve a Sudoku puzzle if I work on them before going to bed.

Pretty normal but recurring - the theme is almost always me having to be entirely accountable for pulling off a critical project of some sort (not always things I’m familiar with IRL but I always seem to know what I’m doing) and struggling with people/resources letting me down. Almost always about having to problem-solve on the fly. This makes TOTAL sense, regarding emotional processing as it is exactly what I do for a living and often in my personal life, and although I cope very well, it’s a lot.

I occasionally have very lucid dreams, some of them interesting, pleasant or suspenseful, and I’m always a little annoyed when I wake up without seeing how it ends. popcorn::

I've had some problem-solving dreams, which is cool, occasional nightmares as a kid (not so cool) but mostly "normal" dreams by the description above.

The weirdest thing about them is they are often anachronistic - people from an earlier time in my life, but in settings from the present time, or vice-versa.

I usually prefer when I don't remember dreaming, though, because I feel more rested.

Edit - I do remember one recurring dream: When I'm about to wake up to use the bathroom, I sometimes dream I am looking for a public restroom and they're all out of order.

I have pretty much had at least one of all those types of dreams except healing/processing. I have had one nightmare, and a few dreams which later came true (prophetic). I don’t know if they are technically recurring, but I have dreamed about being in the same place a few times, but it’s somewhere I haven’t been in real life. I have also dreamed about the same people but in different circumstances (for example, I had three dreams in one week recently about a co-worker who passed away a few years ago but in each dream we were working together in a different industry). Most of my dreams are of the Vivid variety, extremely lifelike (if a little odd) and easily remembered. Daydreams are also very vivid and lifelike, and I use them a lot when writing and when relaxing to fall asleep.

Lately, I do not recall much in the way of my dreams. However, when I do, I hit a number of these categories...including some overlap. I usually remember if it's in the lucid/vivid/nightmare categories, and often those will combine. I also have recurring dreams or recurring themes. This usually happens during times of stress...like my mind is trying to problem solve and is subconsciously trying to find a solution by putting me through similar paces to find a different and more pleasing result. I guess this can also be seen as healing. These dreams are usually super stressful and often involve me losing critical things to get me where I need to be. It's not as common for me as other family members, but I have also had some prophetic ones over the years. Still, of late...it's a big nothing.

I don't always remember my dreams. But I definitely have lucid and prophetic ones once in a while. One of the prophetic ones was that a family member who was pregnant and her birth. There were 3 main points in my dream --- there would be an emergency, she would end up with a c-section, and that the family would all be together praying on the situation... So the reality --- they was scheduled for a c-section because the baby was breach for about 2 weeks later, but her water broke about a week later which turned a plan c-section to more of urgent need. And the family happened to be having a party that day for someone else's anniversary, so we were all together and prayed for her until we got the news that the baby was delivered safely. So details are sometimes sketchy, but the overall result definitely went along with the dream I had maybe 10 days before the baby was born. Never know when I will have one of those dreams.

My dreams run the range. The strangest dream though that I've had was entirely in French. I was speaking in French, people around me were too...I wasn't in France though. And what makes it weird is I can only speak and understand about a handful of words in French.

My dreams are usually, from what I remember, fairly normal and lucid. I tend to forget them though within a few minutes of waking up. I also daydream a lot throughout the day.

LOL. For me, an OTHER was have been in order. So by default, I voted recurring. Your descriptions are interesting and are at the core of why I would have voted OTHER. Reading down the list, the first part of the descriptions of several matches my dreams, but the further description absolutely does not, rather radically off. Recurring goes off the tracks for me at "unresolved or underlying issues".
My recurring dreams tend to be work related. I retired almost 5 years ago so they most definitely are resolved with nothing underlying because that situation will never happen again. The dream is pretty much the same, it is a few minutes before a newscast and I am sitting down to START writing the show. Sometimes I am sitting at a computer, sometimes it is at a typewriter as we used MANUAL typewriters for the first 10 years of my career. It can be at one of the three TV stations I worked at. I always wake up before finding out if I made it, but feeling like I did.
Another trend I remember in my dreams is people from different times and places in my life, who never met, being together in the same place.
And not sure if this is fantasy, or wishful dreaming, but one recent dream had my dad......who passed away almost 59 years ago.......introducing me to his dad, who passed away 125 years ago.. No idea where that came from, but it was a pleasant dream. I guess in that case it WAS unresolved and underlying because I never knew any of the Grandparents and wish I had.

I have a lot of vivid dreams that I wouldn't call "nightmares" but they are very stressful. Sometimes they are only mildly so, like trying to get somewhere I just can't get to, and sometimes they are more intense, like running from someone intent to harm me. I sometimes wake up all controted, with my legs in the air. I am a far too stressed-out person, so it's not surprising that I would have stressful dreams.

I forgot to add that the "recurring" nature of my dreams is strange in that locations remain consistent, but the dreams themselves are different. Like, in my dreams my city is much larger with specific areas that I will find myself in over and over. There are Disney parks in my freams that are consistent - a few different versions that I think are like WDW or DL or the one that is sometimes right near me. Small details might change, but overall they are the same.

Normal and lucid I guess. Sometimes I can recall a bit of a dream upon awakening but soon any recollection is pretty much gone, displaced I guess by more important things to think about, ha.

Recurring themes

6-16 years old falling out of car going around a curve over a cliff.... stopped when I was driving

14-25... catching fish that are not of this planet.... father son issues as the only bond we had was fishing.... stopped when my son was born

25-30...no dreams in the army.. life was perfect

30-45 having cotton mouth, being naked or no lessons/ forgetting my lines... stopped when I quit teaching and acting... I will no longer act because of those dreams

30-60.. dreams of losing my valuable loot that I gathered at estate sales as it was my secondary occupation...these stopped when I started living in Yuma...it is a antique/collectable paradise

Now.... walking... always walking... most of the time through people houses

As for Disneyland.. they were frequent... but never happy visits...most of which I still remember.... they stopped 2019 after my worst visit to Disneyland
