We have a not good laptop that we need to replace. Once we do I’ll have to google how to do this and put a few of my CDs on my phone.
Make sure the new laptop has an optical drive, most do not today. Or pick up an external optical drive that you can plug in.

I WISH my husband would let me get rid of the discs. I have it on my laptop and phone. He has it copied on HIS laptop and phone. And we have Amazon Music and can get any of the recordings whenever we want.
I told mine I was going to do it, he said it was fine, but he did cringe and squirm a little, when I left for goodwill with all of them in my car.

Why wouldn’t it be worth it to put on your phone?
Why would I want it on my phone? I have a nice stereo system with nice speakers at home that I can't hook the phone to. I guess it would work in the Toyota with the USB cord, but not in my two other cars.

Computer has a CD player. I never use it. I listen to music on my phone mostly, or on iHeart's site.

Thanks Dan! 🙂
So much to think about.
It’s times like this that make me feel so techno stupid :headache:
I need my own private Geek Squad - LOL!

I do miss the one in my car ☹️☹️
The one in my house broke 😡☹️☹️😡😡
I really miss my music Sirius is not the same

Good for you? The poster I asked didn’t mention any of that and gave the impression they wouldn’t be able to use their CD’s anymore. That’s why I asked. Context is everything.

It's a discussion board thread. Weaves here, and there. There is no requirement for context.

When you quote someone and respond context is needed. And by the way I did not ask that poster why she didn’t put her music on her phone I asked why she thought is was useless to do so in the context of her response. So your comment was out of left field.

All in the course of discussion.

I have one in my car, and one in the house. The one in the house used to be near the treadmill downstairs, but DD has gone retro with wanting CD's and it is currently in her room. Yes, she uses it and buys CD's. :confused3 Her money. I do tell her buy on Amazon for cheap though.

I listen to the one in the car on occasion.

We have one in the house, in my car, and several portable ones. My husband loves music and he's still hanging onto CDs, so he uses them fairly often, although I usually don't. I do need to get the CD drive out though and transfer some music from CDs to my phone or something.

I *think* my car has a CD player in it, it is a 2016. I cannot be absolutely sure, but I think I do remember seeing an eject button somewhere on the dash area so I am assuming that would be for a CD player. I just use bluetooth from my phone so I really have no use for a CD player anyway.

We also have a Blu Ray player collecting dust. Those will play CDs I believe.

Seems like the way things are now, I just do not have any use for CDs. All of mine are in a Rubbermaid container buried in a closet somewhere (along with DVDs).

I know a lot of people like physical media, but I am so lazy that all of this digital stuff works much better for me.

Two in the house, one Blu-ray in the entertainment center and the other in the desktop PC.

I think I got one of the last models of laptops that have DVD/CD recorder/players. When I was looking for a new laptop a year and a half ago and couldn't find any with a DVD and wondered why. I was told by a millennial, "Millennials don't watch DVDs, so we don't need them."

When I asked her how she watches movies, she said they stream everything nowadays.

Still, I preferred to have a laptop with an HDMI port and a DVD player. Of all places, Costco had one. And someone here on the DIS alerted me to check out Costco for laptops. (I wasn't a member, so it never occurred to me to look there.)

I bought it on sale, ($300 off) right before Christmas. But, it was sent to the wrong address. I had to wait until it was sent back to Costco, my credit card refunded, and then re-order it. Only, that model of laptop was never re-stocked. I checked the website every week for 6 months. FINALLY! It was listed again for a few days. I pressed the Buy button so fast! And Costco honored their sale price that they had promised to give me. The customer service rep placed a note in my file when I was waiting for the one I originally ordered to be returned so I could re-order. :thumbsup2
