Back in 2018, I was in the "pool", but I never made it to the next level of having to come in. There was a number to call like the day before, and every time it was like "your presence is not required".

I actually wanted to serve, and was disappointed I never got to be on a jury. Oh well, maybe in the future. I figure it would have to be more fun than work on any given day.

I've been called about 3-4 times. One time I made it to questioning but never was chosen.

I have been hoping I would get called while I am unemployed, but they will probably wait until I start a new job and then call me. I wanted to serve the last time I got called because the case was about passing counterfeit money. When they asked if any of the potential jurors had seen counterfeit money before, I raised my hand and that was the end of my jury dreams.

I used to process the daily cash deposits for our company, and occasionally we would receive a counterfeit bill. When you handle a lot of money the fakes are easy to spot. Some of them were really bad, but some were fairly realistic other than missing the security indicators.

Are you registered to vote? That's usually how they get your info.

I am and also have a driver's license which sounds like the two most likely ways people are chosen. I don't care which it is since I assume they will contact me if I happen to get chosen for jury duty.

People in other countries get jury duty too (in reference to your option No Jury Duty for me - I live in another country).

I've never been called. Husband has and was dismissed or got excused.

Let me guess - the defense kicked you off?

A really common defense tactic is to just blow smoke, present a bunch of confusing testimony from their experts, and leave the jury confused. Reasonable doubt? Well sure, I have no idea what is going on. You would have been a big liability to that defense.

I don’t know for sure. I do know that I was not asked any other questions and I wasn’t picked, but I would assume it was the defense that kept me out. There was another time I was on jury duty in a different county where the two sides called out juror numbers to be excluded after questioning and before selection, but for this case they just called the numbers for the chosen jurors and dismissed the rest of us.

"White Male Engineer" is usually enough to get me booted. I have a friend who is a deputy DA and I bought my house from a sheriff who I will bring up if I really can't afford to be there. That and be friendlier to the prosecution than the defense when they are asking questions. BUT...Like I stated in an earlier post, the last two times I was called in they never even sent a panel to a courtroom. Talk about not valuing your time.
