Are you a superstitious person?
If yes….which superstitions do you believe in?
(multiple choice)

*There’s many superstitious beliefs, but I only have a limited amount of poll choices. Please post your superstitious belief if it’s not listed.

For Me…..I am not superstitious at all :sad2: but I do say & play along with certain superstitions all the time like…..
*saying…..fingers crossed everything goes well 🤞🏻
*saying, while knocking on wood, things like…..knock on wood I’ve never had the flu.
*Saving wishbones for DH & DD19 to pull for fun
*Make a fun wish when blowing out birthday candles
*If a couple bad things happen I’ll say…what next? Bad Things come in threes.
*I’ll giggle when I walk under a ladder.
I didn’t select any of these in the poll since I don’t believe in them, I just goof off and play along with them.

Yeah, I’m superstitious. I will knock on wood, I’ve not taken a hotel room 666, deaths typically comes in 3’s, and I won’t walk under a ladder.

Do I truly believe these things to the core of my soul? No. But I’ll take a few side steps to avoid bad juju. 😉

We just had lunch with 13 colleagues at one table. Nothing happened.
666 is not a thing in the Netherlands, 13 a bit more.

Extremely one here !! I’ve flown on Friday 13th and was a nervous wreck - another flight one year was cancelled because of a hurricane on a Friday 13th ! I went next day
I have owned several black cats - fun fact - no such thing as solid black cat - they have at least one white hair
All above I observe - are they true ? Idk maybe sometimes maybe not but why push your luck - I do know my problems always come in 3 and always have my whole life - it’s never failed - so that’s just odd
There’s a bunch of them out there and if you Google Friday 13th it’s an interesting read !

I will begin by stating my oldest son was born on Friday the 13th at 9:00 pm.

I do knock on wood probably every day
I don't walk under ladders
I will only pick up a coin if it's head's up

I'll get back with you on how the casino treated me on this Friday the 13. I am on call for Jury and didn't get called in so that's a good sign!! :teeth:

In addition to knocking on wood and not opening an umbrella indoors, I do not put a new pair of shoes on a table. Got that one from my mom. 😁

No superstitions here. They’re all hogwash.

I never understood the “comes in threes” one about celebrity deaths or tragedies. Of course they do; wait a week and a third event will coincidentally occur. And if a fourth celebrity dies, does that count or does it invalidate the superstition?

I don’t consider myself very superstitious, but I do do some of the things mentioned, probably because I grew up that way. Apparently my mother’s mother was very superstitious. My mother remembered all of the ones she grew up with (like throwing salt over your shoulder, or if you hear a knock it means someone‘s going to die 😳 ) etc. I do it just out of habit.

I would not think twice about having a black cat, walking under a ladder or opening an umbrella in the house. I do knock on wood and cross fingers for good luck. At work we NEVER say, “It’s slow” because we usually get slammed if we do, lol.

When I drop by Vince's firehouse every so often for a surprise' hello', he will tell me, 'don't ask, dad', since, in the past, I have asked him, 'how's your shift going, Vince?' He tells me that when I've asked that and then left the station, they start getting the calls.

Not superstitious at all, though I find some of them amusing.

Growing up, my family had two very sweet black cats (at different times). My mom specifically chose them to adopt because they were unwanted by many people. :(

Marie and I do this multiple times during the year, every time we have a Costco chicken. She always tells me I am cheating, putting my thumb up too high.

Yup! :lmao:

Not superstitious but handle things like Slo does.

A few years ago where my son had a part time job there was a small group of people trying to do some sort of scam. It was something to do with gift cards. My son followed protocol to not go along with it and one of them put (or attempted to put) a curse on my son. We got a good laugh about that. But honestly I did have visions of the book/movie Thinner go thru my head.

Yes, I can be. I just realized yesterday that I'm having a procedure done today, on Friday the 13th, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. :) I think I would have rescheduled if I'd put it all together earlier.

I'm with most of those on here. I do some of the things (like crossing fingers and knocking on wood) but I don't REALLY think they help. It's just habit/culture. There are a lot that I don't do, too.

My cousin is very superstitious, especially about one of our local sports team (she's a big fan). For instance, if we go to a game and they win, she insists that we must exit through the same door we came in through. (Not just the same arena entrance area... the same actual door.) But if they lose, we have to leave through a different door. Weird stuff like that. I humor her and enter/exit through the door she chooses, but I think it's silly.
