Live in CA, been to all 4. My Maine story;
DW and I went to Maine in the winter. We flew into Boston then headed north to Portland during a storm. It didn't seem bad, but when we got to where we were staying we had the following interaction;
Host: (very apologetic) We are really sorry, but there was a big ice storm and some of the rooms were damaged. We had to put someone in your room.
Me: (perplexed)
Host: (seeing I was perplexed)Oh, but don't worry. We are putting you up in the Hyatt Regency, downtown. We'll pay for your dinner tonight and breakfast in the morning. Again, we're really sorry.
Me: Oh, wow. THANK YOU! that's very nice of you. SO do I pay you for the room here tonight?
Host: Oh no! We are paying for everything. It's so great of you to be understanding about this. The last guy was really mad.
To this day I am just so dumfounded. How can anyone be mad about that? We lived it up, had lobster for dinner, tipped generously, and left very happy. We were headed to Sugarloaf and had a great time there too. Everyone we met was sooo nice in Maine! Definitely go if you haven't been.
Here's the place, stay there if you can. They deserve your business;
