For 20 years I pretty much worked weekends exclusively. Except if a major holiday fell in the middle of the week, then I would work that weekday. I primarily worked 3 day trips and it would be Friday - Sunday. Once in a while I would get a Thursday - Saturday. Funny enough I did not like working Saturday - Monday. I think my brain played tricks because I always felt I should be off on Monday. lol

I would miss some parties and events due to work, but I loved being off on the weekdays to run my errands. The grocery store on a Saturday? No thank you.

No extra pay for weekend work. The last 10 years I would get paid extra to work a major holiday (The one I always was happy to work was NYE. That was never a big holiday for me.)

We sometimes choose to work weekends, but my husband does more than me. He says he “thinks” best before noon so if he has programming to do he likes to do it then. When my kids were younger if there was something we wanted to do during normal working hours, we did it. Sometimes that meant working some time on weekends to catch up.

I have never worked a Monday- Friday job so yes I work weekends. I am starting my work week tonight, . I am a RN. I work a rotation and am also part time so it is all over the place. I will have several weekends on then be off for a few . Sometimes they are partial weekends but most of the time are full. My rotation has a lot of Fridays to Sundays..

I worked weekends and many holidays early-on in my career. As I advanced through management I worked fewer weekends, but there were always what we jokingly called "Career Enhancing Opportunities" which meant it behooved you to show up. I've been retired for 10 years, now there's no work and everyday is a weekend.:cool1:

As an illustrator and designer I was mostly freelance and made my own hours, but I was deadline based so I usually couldn't take a weekend off if I had a project going. I'm on disability now, so I'm no longer in the field.

Old habits are hard to break, though. I draw and paint for my own enjoyment now, but I still catch myself trying to finish up a piece as quickly as possible. Can't teach an old dog new tricks, I guess.

I’m retired so not working. However, when I did work I did not work weekends unless I had to be overseas for work and had to fly out on a Sunday.

I work one weekend day a month (which happens to be this Sunday, blah). I do get a comp day in the same work week though.

I am a nurse and most nurses end up working at least some weekends. I work every other weekend. My schedule though it ends up being 3 days in a row Saturday, Sunday, Monday... and I work 16 hour shifts so that can be pretty stinky. Luckily my schedule is that I am off Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday after that so it works out.

I googled what type of cat did she have, it kept saying "Scottish Fold" I was like no way. I thought that cat was a Ragdoll... then I finally was satisfied to see that one of her cats is in fact a Ragdoll the one named "Benjamin Button".

If you mean work on the weekends in the "go into a job" then no, Professors rarely go on campus during the weekend unless they have Saturday classes, are doing research, or have an event. But I have done work on the weekends like grading or meeting preps. I've actually been trying to do less of that to achieve a healthier work-life balance. It's been worth it.
What Lord Manhammer said!
I ALWAYS have lab reports to grade and end up doing them for a few hours every day, even on the weekends. However, I don't spend enough time grading on the weekends- trying for that healthy work-life balance- so I'm always behind with posting the grades. Also, as I teach on Mondays and Tuesdays, I spend some time on Sundays updating my powerpoints, posting handouts, rubrics, etc., on the course page, and reviewing my lecture. I just can't leave it all until Monday morning- too stressful to try to prep at the last minute! It does seem like I never get away from work, though, and the older I get, the harder it is to take. Makes retiring look better and better.

My company operates 24/7/365. For the majority of my career there, I had a Monday to Friday daytime position. But there were MANY instances when I’ve worked evenings, overnights, weekends, and major holidays.

My last day is next Friday, December 15.

Are you retiring? Congrats if so.

I’ll log on and approve timecards on Saturday mornings just in case I space out or get too busy Monday mornings (have to be done by 9am Monday) but other than that, I don’t.

I work in weekends and holidays if they fall on the days I work.
I work in the hospitality industry.

We are both retired. But both of us have worked on weekends. DH's worked summer jobs in College at a restaurant and movie theater. Once he got a job in a bank ( non-branch ) ,it was maybe one Saturday a month . Rarely on a Sunday
I worked retail for 23 years . One job was a college bookstore for 14 years . We were closed on Sundays, but I usually worked a Saturday every 3 to 4 weeks. Fortunately it was only a half day shift. I did spend years in a regular bookstore , a year in a department store & an internship in a museum store. In all those I worked about 3 Saturdays a month and 1 to 2 Sundays. My office jobs were the occasionally Saturday as needed.

I spent all of high school and college years working in a grocery store so I worked every weekend there. We were also open all the holidays except Xmas days so as a teen I worked all those.

Now, I work in a hospital and work every 3rd weekend. Also work holidays. This year my weekend falls on Xmas weekend so I have to work Sat and Sun day shift as my weekend. It happens to be that Christmas is my assigned holiday this year so I also have to work Xmas Eve evening shift.

Dh works for our town and does every 4th weekend. He only does 7am to 12pm so it’s not too bad.
