I have to scan and send signed documents. You need to use blue ink for those so that the recipient can see that it is a scan of an original and not a copy.

I voted black 100% of the time, and also other, because I will always seek out a black pen, but occasionally someone hands me a blue pen (shudder), and I’ll have to use that.

@ronandannette thats a really good point about black not being distinguishable on a photocopy.

Either, it depends on which pen I pick up.

8th Grade English class, or rather “Language Arts.” 1974-75. Mrs. Townsend. She said to write assignments in either blue, black, or blue-black ink. I never heard of blue-black, but, yes, there was such a thing. But I haven’t seen it in decades, not that I really looked.

I liked those fat pens with 4 colors, blue, black, red, and green.

One nun in Catholic school forbid ball point pens. We had to use cartridge pens, with messy little ink tubes.
This is the pen I used in grade school, and since two years ago, it's the one I use at work too.

I used black most of the time, but the colors come in handy for notes on my work order lists.

I like bright colors, and often have pink or purple for everyday use. Right now, I have a black pen clipped to my checkbook, but I don’t care about black or blue. It was a gift and writes well, so that’s what I am using.

At work I had to use red pens 99% of the time.

For Me….I honestly prefer blue ink, but I only use black to write checks.
This here should be the topic of another poll: Writing checks.

Do you write checks at the checkout aisle, or just for bills?

I recall being in lines and hearing everyone utter a communal moan the moment a check book breaks out.

Still on the shelf at Walmart, or just about anywhere. Just saw it on the shelves a few weeks ago supply shopping with my daughter before she went back after Christmas break.

I generally prefer blue over black, but will use either that's handy for checks.

For non-official documents, the more fun the color the better! I was using purple all day yesterday, and always loved to use multiple colors to organize my notes.

I prefer blue for my own stuff. At work I really prefer blue bc you can always tell the difference between the original and a copy without having to use a stamp, but it's healthcare so I have to use black on all official paperwork and then stamp copy with a red stamp.

I use blue or black whenever I am at home (doesn't matter which). At work, I only use red-I work in finance and having my department be the only one using red helps other departments see that we have acknowledged an order etc. Plus differentiates our notes from anyone else's.

They had a special anniversary version with purple ink, some time back.

Oddly, these pens are made in France. Merci, France.

I prefer blue ink. I buy blue pens for home and, if I have a choice, I'll pick a blue pen over a black one. But I'm not so picky that I'd refuse to write with any color pen if I needed to write something down.

No preference, in the digital age my handwriting is so poor I seldom write anything.

I prefer black, but it can depend. It's definitely what a favor, but not all the time. Sometimes the blue stands out more.

Back in the 80's when we all had these in elementary school, they had one with pastel colors. Pink, purplish (mauve perhaps?) and such.

Red Angie :) to "blueblack." I have heard that, too. These days Dad and I use whatever 🖊️is available. Our ballpoint pens are currently black. I prefer colorful papermate flair pens :)

Depends on what I'm doing. If I'm working black or red (I'm a bookkeeper) if I'm just writing a note to myself or making a list outside of work, whatever I pick up. I work from home but the only pens on my desk are black or red. Other color pens are upstairs away from the office.
