National Hug Day was January 21st, so I’m behind with this topic. I didn’t even know about it until I saw the below picture yesterday on a Facebook post from the 21st. When I saw it I thought….what a fun poll topic. So let’s be like Olaf and talk about warm hugs.

Are you a hugger?
If yes…..on a scale of 1-6, how much of a hugger are you? (with 1 being a big hugger and 6 being not hugging at all)
(multiple choice)

For Me……I’m a big hugger. I love hugging ❤️ Because of that I’m absolutely a #1 ::yes::. I don’t know where it came from because my mom isn’t a hugger and my grandma wasn’t a hugger. I guess I’m making up for lost time in my family. I’m good at reading people’s body language, and if it’s very clear that someone isn’t a hugger, then I don’t throw myself at them with hugs.

My mom was a hugger and she hugged me often. My dad was a bit less affectionate in that regard and a pat on the back was about as good as it got.

I don't really hug these days, unless you count the animals at the shelter, because there really isn't anyone in my life that I am close enough with to do something like that. I went with 3 on the scale.

I am not much of a hugger... I dunno, I am kind of weird about touching people and vice versa. There is no traumatic backstory, it's just that I have never been very "touchy" in general.
You’re not weird - that’s just how you are.
As I mentioned earlier, my mom and grandma are/were the same. There was no cuddling, hand holding (unless they didn’t want me lost), saying I love you (but I never doubted their love for me), big hugs just because and etc. I never thought of them as weird - it’s just how they are/were.

I am SO anti-hug (or being touched) that people seem to make it my personality, ha! My coworker bought me a "do not touch me" pin to put on my purse recently. My ILs give me SO much grief about it (in a kind way) because they are all touchy-feely and I am a raging cactus. I will hug my husband, kids, and my mom at times. I fist bump most times, or my old coworker and I did the ET finger thing when she wanted a hug.

You sound like my dad. He cringed at the thought of hugging someone, much less doing it. :)

I’ve recently become a hugger and occasionally it makes me cringe.

Had a meeting with my banker recently and I actually hugged her when it was over; still giggling/slapping self in face/shuddering over that.
I mean I know why it’s happening (people have to bend down to touch me and hugging is the easiest way for me to respond) but still.

In times past I was adroit at keeping others at bay w/o seeming standoffish.
Or as Sting says “…don’t stand so close to me…”.

I’m a hugger. I’ll hug people and animals. With that said I try to be aware that not everyone is and I’m respectful of those who are not comfortable hugging. I’ve yet to meet a dog who doesn’t want one! 🐶

I bought my sister a Kuzco "No Touchy" shirt years ago. She likes to wear it to family events.
I'm also not a hugger, but I'll do it when I have to. I'll just be uncomfortable about it.

Not a big hugger but I don't mind it, I guess I'm a 3? Most hugs these days go to my granddaughters :goodvibes

I love that the two of you came up with something special to show affection that was within your boundaries.

I'm not a fan of socially required hugs and only enjoys hugs from my immediate family these days.

:love2:I’m very demonstrative with family and very close loved ones but that’s where it ends. It rather appalls me that hugging has become so common with everybody. It especially bugs me in the workplace and I can’t count how many times I’ve been made uncomfortable - sometimes even customers try to come in for a hug. Just quit it already!!

Yes, we are a hugging family, all of us., Marie, me, Vince, Natalie, the grandkids. One of the grandkids is a little more hesitant, but still is a hugger, maybe between a 2 and 3 for him. I'm between a 1 and a 2, leaning to 1. Marie the same

Looking above, I know I've given at least once, and got one back from @slo, @Kitty 34 and @luvmarypoppins. Maybe more than once? How about you Ron @Micca there at the Hyatt, a hug, a bro hug, a fist bump or a handshake? Nancy @Meriweather? @Minnesota!, if I see you on one of your Chicago trips here, I'll steer clear, a wave from across the street? :scared: ;)
