I know it's childish- buuuut: Everything shouldn't be a joy-walk- If we need to get to someplace..

I hate to "run" people over but sometimes, not EVERYTHING'S the scenic route, you know? What to do for the quick-paced challenged?

(I'm not the only who feels this way, I hope! LOL- I know my sister will back me up!!) :rotfl2:

As long as they don't come to a complete stop right in front of me I don't mind slow moving poeple, in fact I think they've got the right idea. Slow down and take it easy! Take your time and enjoy where you are at the moment. Its not like Space Mountain won't be there if it takes you another 5 minutes to get to it.

I know it's not fun when people stop right in front of you, but really, where are they supposed to stop? There are people everywhere. And sometimes you can't get everyones attention and move them out of the way fast enough.

We generally move at a nice pace. :)

I normally do my run from one land to another first thing in the am in MK, to get my fast passes for my favorite rides, using the tickets of DW and others in the party that don't do the rides. There's no fast pass lane to run betwe en the lands, you make your own way, dodging the slow walkers taking in the sites. I'm careful not to run anyone down, they probably think I'm nuts.....

I have always walked quickly, even when I feel I'm moving at a relaxed pace (for me, I guess!). Luckily, I get a lot of practice at moving with the herd as I teach middle school. The students get a laugh out of watching me bob up and down behind the slower-moving groups in the hallways. :Pinkbounc

Oh...this too is one of my biggest pet peeves!!! I work at an airport and have to deal with it every day!! People stopping to look at the monitors...people stopping to get something out of their bag...or people that are on a layover and have tons of time to walk at a snails pace!!! UGH! I am always aware of myself in these situations. People DO need to get places. If I'm walking slow or have to stop I move over to the side, I just wish everyone else had the same courtesy.

Um, what are the monitors there for if people are not supposed to stop and look at them? :confused3

My husband and I are fast walkers so we are seldom on a slow pace either. We always seem to get behind the people who are very, very slow walkers and we are always weaving in and out of traffic (with a stroller). It's even more exasperating when you're trying to get yourself or a child to the closest bathroom :crazy2:

I call people like that stutter steppers. Like when you go to the mall with a teenage shopper and she has to slow it down and pause at every little thing. Personally, it makes my knees hurt so me and my dgf usually do the little skip around and take advantage of the pointy elbow principal to make sure we don't get closed in again.

Slow people drive me nuts. They are like the people in line at the grocery counter - when everything is rung up - THEN they get out their checkbook and start writing the check - when they should have had everything except the final amount filled in. I just like being efficient. I have the greatest sympathy for folks that struggle with mobility - I have arthritis and until my anti inflammatory meds set in - I'm stiff as a board - but if I'm having a bad day - I stay to the side and leave plenty of "passing room". I know the difference between that and people who are just slow.

I don't mind slow people, as long as they have the common courtesy to refrain from blocking the way for everybody else.

If you want to drive 55, get in the slow lane. Take a look in your mirror once in a while - if there are no cars in front of you as far as the eye can see, but the line stretches behind you for a mile, then YOU ARE MOVING TOO DARN SLOW! Get out of the way!

If you are walking along in a city street, store, mall, office building, theme park, or other crowded place, and you need to stop for a moment for some reason, MOVE OVER TO THE SIDE! Slow down a little before you come to a stop instead of coming to a sudden, screeching halt right in the middle of the sidewalk.

If you are walking along with your family, have a look around you once in a while. If there is no room between you and the walls or rails on either side, then you are spread out too wide. Bunch up so other people can get by!

If you are leaving a store, DON'T STOP IN THE DOORWAY! Put away your wallet, look at your reciept, dial your cell phone, tie your shoe, or gab with your friends OUT OF THE WAY!

All of this has to do with either stupidity or apathy - stupid people don't know that their actions affect others, apathetic people don't care that their actions affect others. Stupid or rude - I choose to be NEITHER.

I'm loving this thread. Its making me laugh. I hate slow walkers too (and my dad is one of them, people must laugh at our family, there's me and my mum going as fast as we can and my dad trailing behind, then every couple of minutes there's me going to my dad "hurry up, quickly, the lines are getting longer as i speak" lol i must look so stupid). I'm like a girl with a mission when trying to get to my fav ride in the morning.

While we are on the subject the other thing that annoys me is when people take ages to go through the machines to get into the park. People wait till its there turn, then find there tickets in their bags and then don't no how to do the finger thing when they have watched 50 + people in front of them do it.

I walk very quickly too, however; when I'm in the world, I'm on Vacation! I'm going to take my time and enjoy every little thing. If I need to stop I do try to move to the side and get out of the way. What drives me crazy is when people do run me down or my small child, most don't even bother to say excuse me!

I'm one of those people who is always walking too fast. I always have. I hate to get behind someone slow.

However, last Dec I took my 73 y/o mom to WDW with her using a scooter and had frequent chances to get irritated with both kinds of people (slow and fast). Why do people come to a quick stop without giving any warning to the people behind them and why do people cut off people in scooters and then get irritated if they get bumped? Those scooters don't stop on a dime and my poor mom spent most of the trip trying to dodge people who either stopped right in front of her or else cut her off too short.

To be honest, I plan so I'm not in MK on a Saturday. I walk like the New Yorker that I am, and having to constantly manuver between stopped or slow strollers just stresses my vacation more. Don't get me wrong I totally respect the Disney strollers, but since I'm not doing it with kids, I just avoid them so I dont' go into stroller rage. :confused3

with my asthma sometimes it is hard for me to walk fast. sometimes I have problems breathing so I have to walk rather slow. if I upset anyone because I am in their way. sorry- I'm doing the best I can.

It drove me nuts last month! Another thing was the people who walked down the center of the way or on the laft side. What happened to people walking on the right hand side?

I have always walked quickly, even if its in the walmart parking lot or out to get the mail at home. I respect people's right to take their vacation slowly, but it really does drive me nuts when I get caught behind someone walking slow. And making matters worse is my mom who has knee problems and has to get a motorized scooter for every trip. It drives me nuts because the thing doesn't go as fast as me! I even hate the fact that I must use a stroller. I have a 3 yr old, and although I have to have one, I would love it if I could just travel light....I am sure those years will come soon enough!

My sister and I have a code word for the slow walkers. We call them "doodleooot"s. Like that's the music that's running through their heads as they slowly plod along and stop right in front of you to scratch their heads.

Doodleootle-doot.

I especially like it when they stop suddenly swing around with their arm suddenly extended to point at "the shiny" and clock people who are trying get around them.

I respect your need to walk slow, my dad's in that position. My mom's in a scooter. But think about your grouping. You don't need to walk arm in arm in "red rover" formation. You need to stop, "wall it". When I need to pull out a map, I edge my way out of traffic, usually by a wall.

Walking slow is uncomfortable for me, so I'll stay out of your way if you pay me the same consideration.

Deal?
