I'm hoping to get some insight on Slinky Dog Dash! I was last in Disney World in May of 2018 so I have yet to visit Toy Story Land.

I know there are plenty of posts about this coaster, but I'm hoping that I might find someone similar to me (in my limited coaster tolerance) or at least someone who could describe this coaster from kind of a different perspective. I want to give it a try in August but I need some reassurance.

Some background on me: my biggest issue with any ride are the drops (especially ones that are steep). I have done Space Mountain a couple of times and I don't really like it but I can handle it. I can do Seven Dwarfs Mine Train but I reallyyy don't like the big drop towards the end. Big Thunder Mountain is my absolute favorite.

How does Slinky Dog Dash compare to those coasters? I know it is somewhat faster but looking at POV videos, the drops seem fairly large.

Thoughts? Thank you!

Slinky Dog dramatically slows down the only big drop. Shortly after the "relaunch", Slink races up to a peak, but then the drop slows WAAAAAY down. There is a mini drop towards the beginning of the ride, but it's over in a blink. The intensity of Slink is similar to BTMRR... No fast, big drops.

You will be fine to ride Slinky. When you first see the big hill, it looks intimidating, but I am a huge coaster chicken, and it was fine for me. I've never ridden Space Mountain because it seems like it would be too scary for me, if that helps:-). Because it slows down so much on the drops, you don't loose your stomach, its very smooth, etc. I loved it.

I don’t know, if you don’t like the 7DMT big hill, I’m not so confident you’ll love SDD.

Since you can do 7DMT (but don’t like it) and like BTMR, sounds to me that you should definitely ride SDD (in my opinion), but the drops and speed are pretty real in my humble opinion.

I am the same as you. HATE big drops. HATE my stomach being taken. I struggle to ride Splash. I loved SDD. My stomach was never taken. It is very smooth, and the drops are slow even though they don't look it. You definitely need to try it.

I like Seven Dwarfs, but it’s at the top of my thrill factor. I do BtM , but have started not enjoying it as much. I did SDD in the dark & I think the dark ruined it for me! I couldn’t predict the drops & curves & I was completely thrown off(not literally! ). I haven’t tried it again, but think if you ride it in daylight you’ll be fine.

I compare slinky dog to BTMR but without BMTR's scenery that surrounds you throughout the ride..

I recall one drop with significant air time. BTMR feels faster but SDD is smoother.

If you do it, sit on the right side.

I totally agree with both of these statements. Before riding, I watched it and realized I did not want to sit on the left. Too many times the track goes sideways with the left side closest to the ground. Since I chose the right, I never really realized when that happened. I also second not riding it at dark. I rode it during the day, but I'm basing my opinion on riding SDMT in the dark. That coaster scares me to death in the dark. I would guess that I would not enjoy SDD in the dark either.

If you don't like the big drops, ask if you can sit closer to the front. That way you miss the whip as the back goes down the drop.
As others have said, the drop is very slow and not bad at all.

Thanks everyone! This information is super helpful!

Would you say that the drop on SDD is comparably steep to 7DMT? I feel like the 7DMT one is very steep! I also feel like the 7DMT one happens very fast and doesn't have that slow feel around a curve because it seems to more drop straight down.

Your tolerance for coasters is the same as mine. I don't go on Splash Mountain or Everest. I did fine with SDD, if you are worried about it ask for a seat near the front the back is really he faster part of the ride.

The Laws of Physics dictate that the front of any coaster will fall the slowest and have the least amount of force applied to you (the whip effect). As you move towards the end of the string of cars, those forces increase.

You sound the same as me. I always request front rows on 7DMT because the steep hill is very controlled and much slower than if in the back where it whips down. So maybe try that next time?

Also, I love BTMRR!!

I hate Splash with a passion. I only tolerate it for my kids. It doesn't get easier/better each time....it consistently stays torturous for me.

Having said all that, I like SDD! The drops do not feel steep or fast. I'll admit to closing my eyes every time after it launches and goes straight up. But then I open my eyes cause it doesn't really "drop." The very first time I rode it, I screamed like crazy. But the 2nd time I relaxed more and now I'm ok and enjoy the ride immensely especially at night with the pretty lights!

I think you will be fine in the daylight. I agree that not knowing where the drops are play a huge part in getting that nauseous feeling. SDD is not a "huge" coaster, but it is deceptive when you see it.

Why? Should the heavier or lighter person sit on the right?

The left side banks often and if that person has any fear especially heights it can be unnerving, possibly terrifying.

There is a slight barrier in seats so you should not slide into the other person so weight shouldn’t be issue.

Is BTMRR bumpy or jerky? I haven't been on in years.

Yes, it is. There are a few small hills that lift you up, more like big bumps in the road. But you get tossed around your seat a lot. Which is why I love it. I'm just sad that I had abdominal surgery a little over a year ago, so having my hands in the air and letting my body hit the bar is no longer and option.
