Sling bag (Kavu) clarification

We have one day at IOA next week.

1. I thought I understood the bag/locker rules completely but I've now seen it mentioned two different places about three-prong bags being okay. Does that mean the sling bags (Kavu) would only be required to go in a locker for Hulk and Velocicoaster? Or will I still need to store for Hagrids and Harry Potter too?

2. As far as the water rides go, only Popeye and Bluto's will have dry storage "on the ride" correct?

It's always a debate in our house as far as comfy sneakers all day with sandals in a bag to change into for water rides... versus no bag and leaving the sneakers at home and risking sore feet LOL

Never a debate here. We need the bag for food and snacks anyway since we can't eat much at the parks. But even if we didn't need the bag for food I'd still take one for sandals. If you don't want to carry it around all day you can just pay to store it in a locker. Personally, I just can't imagine trying to walk all day in sandals or slides. You need good comfortable sneakers for a park like this. As far as wet clothes go, I assume they'll dry off pretty fast considering the intense heat in Orlando right now.

We have the same issue. We're doing one day for both US and IOA next week and trying to figure out what to bring for Popeye and Bluto's. It's been awhile since we were able to go on those rides as we typically come in January. Our last two January trips (2016 and 2020) were cold on the days we were at Universal. My thought is to bring a bag or two with sandals/slides for those two rides but not bother with changing clothes and assume that they'll dry fairly quickly.

For the water rides I wear my waist pack and a poncho. I keep my waist pack dry under the poncho. I get the disposable ponchos so I can toss it once I'm done with it for the day. I HATE getting very wet. I do wear a quick dry skort so I don't have to worry about if I get wet some. My family just gets wet and air dries.

My husband and I wear Keans sandals because they stay on your feet and are comfortable and dry quickly. Our daughters wear Crocs (sometimes we will too). We all wear the Citilane Roca Crocs because they look like Vans and are comfortable and we wipe them dry inside with napkins. (We did have to break them in before our trip.)

None of us care about the wet clothes as we wear our fitness shirts and running shorts for a quick dry- it's really just the shoes
We all have Keens which we wear regularly with water sports around here - but I have found for me anyway, they blister my feet if I walk long periods in them (last Disney trip fun).

Keens are my go to as well. I wear them most of the time. I have no problems with them in parks.

Yeah, all 3 water rides can get ya wet. Bluto’s I’d say like swimming pool wet, a high chance of getting that wet. Dino one, depends on where you sit, and how full the boat is. Can get quite wet, or not wet at all. Also, seats get wet from water sloshing around. For the other log ride, also can get very wet as well, as water sloshes and large drops of water from course above besides the hills. I’d bring at least water shoes to wear, then change back to your other, walking shoes. Wet sneakers are awful to walk in. And wet undergarments are no fun either. And yep, bring a cheap plastic cover for ya if not want your clothes wet.

I carry a folded up dry bag, that I open and put my phone and lanyard in. I do those rides with a bathing suit underneath dry fast clothes and wear flip flops. I do have the advantage of doing those rides and then go back to my on-site hotel and change and freshen up, and returning to the parks.

3 prong waist bag can be used all but RRR, Hulk, and new Dino coaster. You also need to put in locker any bag that is not that 3 prong one. Men in Black, Mummy, old Potter ride, Gringotts, and Hagrid’s. Are the rides I can remember seeing lockers, besides the other coasters. I think the kiddy coasters you can put the bag secured between your feet or hold tight with. Hats have to be held or out in locker in the bigger coasters.

I'm not familiar with Kavu bags, but my understanding is that the three prong bags that are allowed are ONLY the waist pack/belt bag (fanny pack) style. Any other type of bag is not allowed even if it has three prongs. That is for the rides like Harry Potter, MIB, Mummy etc that don't allow bags, but also don't have metal detectors. The rides with metal detectors don't allow any bag at all.

Put electronics in a ziploc even if you use the "dry storage" on popeye, ime. The middle section where bags go isn't guaranteed to stay completely dry. Dudley's and the Jurassic river don't have any dry storage as far as I can remember.

We wear Keens or Tevas during the day when we plan to ride the water rides. None of us would want to carry extra shoes around all day!

ETA: we also wear quick dry athletic clothes.
