Has anyone else out there ordered the Slim in 6 DVDs or videos? I am an informercial addict, and I also like exercising in my own home (I go to the health club for swimming but feel silly in exercise classes). I started with Walk Away the Pounds and got The Firm a couple of months ago. I found it VERY difficult...I work up a great sweat, but I get lost in some of the moves.
I ordered Slim in 6 and just got it on Monday. I've been doing the Ramp It Up DVD all week, and I love it! I'm a big fan of strength training/cardio combo workouts, and this one gives me just enough burn to feel challenged without overwhelming me.
I don't buy into the claims of infomercials...I buy the DVDs just to have a variety of workouts. So far, I've lost 25 pounds with a combo of exercise and Jenny Craig & Nutrisystems food. I'd love any other opinions on Slim in 6 or the other programs.
I'm going to try to start getting to this board more regularly, as I still have 40 pounds to go!

I have a head start but a cruise coming up next week, so that may put me a few paces back ;)
The Slim in 6 informercial runs a lot on the weekends. It is a program from www.beachbody.com which also sells other programs.
Slim in 6 is 3 workouts. You are supposed to do Start It Up for two days, Ramp It Up for two weeks, and then Burn It Up for the rest of the 6 weeks. You work out 6 days a week and rest one day. Start It Up is only 30 mins. and was too easy for me, so I jumped right to Ramp It Up, which I love. It's around 48 minutes, broken down into segments of stretching, cardio, weights, abs, etc. They sell stretch bands, but you can use handweights (which is what I do). They even have a nice yoga ending section. There is a counter on the screen that breaks the segments down into manageable parts of 2 to 8 minutes each. For me, that really helps the time to pass. I enjoy the Firm, but much of their choreography is too complicated for me. Slim in 6 is really simple and easy to follow. You also get a couple of bonus programs...a short stretching routine and an ad routine.
The Beachbody website has great support boards, with new groups forming every Monday. Debbie, the person who leads the videos, even does some posting there. The boards are free and pretty active.
I don't like to order from infomercials because they push other products when you call, and I've learned I can usually find the same item cheaper on the internet (I've never seen this one in stores). For this one, shipping is $14.95, but I found an expired online coupon for free shipping. I went to the customer service area of their website, which has free live chat, and asked the rep. if they would be offering that again. He said no more coupons, but that they would give me free shipping, so I ordered immediately. He said 4 to 7 days, and it was at my door in 6. You have to be careful with some of those websites, as I tried to order the Firm online and it never came (three months later I just bought it at Target). But this was the official Beachbody website, so I figured that I was safe.
Hope this info. helps! I'm going to keep checking in here to report on how I'm doing. I might mix these DVDs with my other ones if I start getting bored, but so far that hasn't happened. If I follow the program, I'll probably do a WAP tape on the of days.
Let's tackle those final pounds!!!

Hey Barb, welcome to the WISH!! I've appreciated all your help and info on the cruise board, now I see you here. Welcome.

I'm a fan of yours too! I'm forever checking for your new cruise trip reports - they are, by far, the best resource for DCL out there. We're on the Wonder 12/28 - Let's hope for a few pounds off by then ('cause I'm sure I'll be starting OVER again when I get back!).

Don't know anything about Slim in 6 which surprises me because I always watch those infomercials, too. I've just ordered Winsor Pilates - looks good.

Anyhow, glad to see you on the WISH boards! Best of luck getting healthy and losing those 40 pounds.

kasar, I just saw the infomercial for winsor pilates today. It looked interesting. I have been using Pilates for Dummies. Can you please post when you get the winsor DVD's and let us know how you like them?

Thanks for the warm welcome :D
I have been meaning to come here regularly ever since I started diet/exercise regularly in the summer, but things have been so busy. Now I'm going to make it a point to check in regularly, especially with the holidays as that is a "danger time" for me (too much food at work and too many parties with goodies).
I'd love to hear opinions on Winsor Pilates, too, plus any other video or DVD exercise programs. I really enjoy working out at home, and I like to have a variety so I don't get bored. So far, Slim in 6 is my favorite. I ldo ove the Firm's fanny lifter, too, which has really helped to slim my butt. :teeth:

Hi Barb - welcome to WISH. Nice to see another cruiser here!

The tapes sound interesting. I've just started using WATP but I think variety is good.

I've not seen the Slim in 6 which surprises me because I am an informercial junky as well. I own 2 Walk Away the Pounds tapes that I bought at Target. One is pretty old but it is my favorite because Leslie isn't quite as "perky" in this one and yet it still makes ya sweat. Plus it uses weights which I feel helps push me a lot. The other one I own is a 2 mile walk with no weights again I think they are older but I got them at a great deal. I own Taebo but haven't done one of those tapes in a long time. I would love to get the Firm system but can't part with the $90 or whatever dollars to get it. Good Luck with the Slim in 6 - I'll look for the informercial!

I'll have to look for some of the older WAP tapes. I have three newer ones that I bought as a set at Target. It's the Walk Away the Pounds for Abs series, which comes with a belt with resistance bands. I really enjoy the added upper body work. The three mile walk really wears me out! My hubby says there is a four mile walk, too, and he keeps threatening to buy it for me for Christmas. I think he is trying to kill me! :jester:
Sportmart sometimes has the Firm on sale. I found a website where the set with the sculpting stick was almost half price, but they never shipped it so I gave up and bought it at Target.
