Slightly OT: cleaning infant carrier?

My son sweats a lot in his infant carrier. How can I get the sweat stains out? It's a Graco if it makes any difference. I'm afraid to try the Magic Eraser. Any other suggestions? Thank you so much.

I always took off the cover and washed it on a gentle cycle with Dreft and a scoop of Oxyclean. Then let it drip dry. Hope this works for you.

i this a carrier you wear your child in or a carseat?

If its a carseat you can remove the cover and wash per manufactute instructions, most likely by hand and line dry. Or wash on gentle with a mild detergent. Please dont ever wash the straps of a carseat.

If its one you wear your child in, i toss my carriers in pillowcases and wash on gentle with a "free" detergent and hang to dry.

I have washed the cover before with no problems, just line dried it, but I have heard that you should never wash the straps (harness ones) - apparently that stretches the fibers and makes the straps less able to absorb impact - I just heard this on a recent podcast from a car seat expert, maybe someone else can confirm this? I had never heard that before - but thankfully I have never washed mine

She said that you should only buy a used carseat if you know that the straps have never been washed or else you can buy new straps from the manufacterer of the exact car seat you have.

Yes, never wash the harness straps of a carseat in the washing machine. You can hand wash them with a gentle detergent.

Thanks everyone. Now I just need to figure out how to remove the cover from the car seat. Hopefully it dries quickly since it's the only carrier we have. I'm not working tomorrow so I'll try washing it tonite and let it dry overnight.

1) Use shampoo.
2) It is meant to remove body oils and sweat.
3) It also is the best to use on ring-around-the-collar.
