The Germans have a great word for this: Schadenfreude. If it's wrong to take a slight amout of pleasure in another's misfortune, well then that whole country is wrong.

If you feel too guilty, do something nice for your wife who, along with you, is working so hard, like bringing her flowers. I think that will balance out the slight bit of snark you are feeling right now and make all right in the universe.

I'm truly sorry for the stress that your family is under.

Having said that, yes, I think you're wrong to take joy in someone else's misfortune. I'm a believer in karma and I think you're putting out some bad karma..

I agree.. For all of those saying this is "karma" for them, you're enjoyment of their bad luck may very well cause karma to come back and bite you in the butt!!

As difficult as your life is, knowing that you are doing the "right" thing is the best reward you could ever want.. Enjoying someone elses misery? Not so much..
