I figured out today why I dont drive from NY to WDW. This weekend I went to Six Flags NE. One way took 2hrs 25min, the other took 7.5 hours. I could not see doing that for a long trip particularly through the Northeast cities.

Now granted 7.5 is unusual as there was a police shooting on the interstate in conneticut, but on the way to WDW from NY, you need to pass NY, Phil, Balt and DC. Too much potential for problems. SW from ISP is usally a safer bet

My family wanted to drive east this past summer on our driving trip. 3 of them voted to go that way...... I voted to drive west and after bringing up the congestion of the east coast, they all changed their vote and we went west from Minneapolis!

Hence the expression "Go west Young Man !!"

BTW - NYC is a great place to visit. Just Fly here and take public transportation and bring lots of $$$$

I agree OP! We were honestly considering driving to WDW from the Philly area. Well..this summer we drove down to D.C. to visit my parents in Fairfax, VA. Oh what a nightmare! Just the volume of traffic alone turned my knuckles white! I much prefer to hop on a plane and be in Orlando in 2 1/2 hours!
