Disney has released a brand new special discount for early 2014. The promo is called the "Intro to Disney" offer, and is specifically targeted at first time visitors, but available to anyone.

This special offer includes room, tickets and a dining plan, for stays most nights January 5, 2014 through March 5, 2014. Offer excludes campsites, 3-bedroom villas, Disneys Art of Animation Resort and The Villas at Disneys Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

This offer appears to be a better deal for value resorts between January 5 and February 12, 2014. For other resorts and dates, the promo is the same as the current stay/play/dine offer.

So if any of you are staying in a Value Resort during that time, it may be worth a check to save even more money.

I think Disney is getting into numerology. I mean, $999 for 3 people for 3 nights, sounds like they want the stars aligned properly :-)

Remember a few years ago, they advertised $1500 at a value for a family of 4 for a week? Now it's $999 for 3 nights for a family of 3?? And with only 2 day tickets. Really shows how much the prices have jumped. :sad2:

huh, suddenly they toss out a family member to make it 3 instead of 4 in order to get it under the $1000 mark. This seems like a real stretch to demonstrate a deal, 3 nights and 2 day tickets????

Four years ago I took my DS(11 at the time) alone for 6 nights at Pop with free dining (regular plan) and 7 day base tickets and in was around $950. Granted, there were only two of us, but still, the rates have gone up so much over these last 4 years, it's astonishing. That same trip would cost about $1700 today (taking into account about $21/day per person to switch from CS to regular DP).

Edited to add, I did a fake booking, using a 7 yr old child (says child must be 3-9) to see how much this package would cost without the discount. I used 1/12-1/15 since I'm sure the $999 is based on weekday pricing. The price came to $1185, so a savings of $186. Not enough (in my opinion) to sway someone if they weren't already planning to go.

Any idea if there's a promotion code for this....the CM's have no idea what this promotion is when you call on the phone.....

I called last night to see if it would save us anything and it ended up being $155 cheaper than the SPD for 7 nights at pop century 1/15-1/22 for 2 adults 1 child upgraded to regular dining plan with 6 day base tickets.

I'm quickly starting to realize that most of these "deals" are all the same. I calculated how much the exact same trip would be using SPD, this new "Intro" offer, a free dining offer, and then a room-only discount (I used 30% for a deluxe resort). They were all within about $100 of each other!

We have two reservations...one with the room discount and the other with SPD. I just ran the numbers, and the SPD one is about $86 cheaper. Do you know if charge a change fee to switch promotions? (I call them, but I'm supposed to be working)

No. You're outside of 45 days so no fees. There aren't any switching promo fees anyway.

Hmmm...Switching the SPD reservation is a no-brainer, but now I have to decide if switching the room discount reservation is worth it.

Pro: We have three adults and one child.
Con: We're picky eaters. I generally don't eat desserts.

Over a 6-night stay, I was guessing our breakeven point was $500 between room discount and SPD. The room discount looked better being $540 cheaper, and we only pay for what we eat. BUT...this new promo basically sets the QS dining package at roughly $450.

Decisions, decisions...

I managed to save $150 switching to the families with little ones instead of the stay play and dine discount. Eight nights at POP for two adults and 2 kids under 10 with plus dining and park hopper tickets!

I could see it online under special offers. It's called the families with little ones package. As my little one is under 3 we are still better off with the room only discount.

Gah! This suits us perfectly but I've looked on the WDW site Special Offers but can't find any mention to this discount anywhere!

Can someone post a link to this discount? So I can run the numbers. ;)

Just got an email to my work address with not one but TWO PINs...

For my fellow Canadians, this offer is not posted when accessing Disneyworld.com from Canada. You'll have to connect to Disneyworld.com using TunnelBear etc. to act as if you were in the U.S. and see the offer. If you attempt to access the U.S. link directly from Canada and do a search on availability, it responds with, "Sorry, we could not find the offer you were looking for". I was successful using TunnelBear but nothing for my dates. If you try to call in, mention the "Families With Little Ones: Vacation Package Offer". Here is the direct U.S. link, but as mentioned, it will give you the error when you do a search for dates from Canada: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/special-offers/intro-to-disney-offer/

AHA! Thanks Cottager, I'm hoping that it eventually becomes available to Canadians as well.

I'd appreciate it if anyone with access can run a price for me?:thumbsup2
